Bloodsport - Uncovered Version

Comments

I spent almost 15 years on Active Duty in the US Military. You are govt. property and if you damage yourself (Fighting, Sunburn, etc.) to where you cannot go to work...you can be chargeed with destruction of govt property and dereliction of duty......fuckin unreal now that I think about these many decades later.....Saw the walled city in Kowloon in 1992.

I've always considered this to be JCVD's most well known film. It' always been my fave, as well.

Yeah I noticed the same thing on the Hacksaw uncovered reaction during the battle scenes. Both of them are hard to hear but George is lower than Simone on that one.

Hi guys. I know this is one of your first attempts at "uncovered", but I think the film's volume is a tiny bit too loud compared to your voices. Around 43:25 when the crowd is really loud, I can't hear George at all. EDIT: Same issue during the end credits. Maybe some normalization needs to be applied to the films? To make sure they don't exceed a certain volume? Note: tested with headphones that usually do pretty well with voices.

George, you mentioned that you weren't sure if Frank's master was ill or just old. When Forrest Whitacker's character and the other guy who was with him came to the door, the woman who was caring for Frank's master said he was ill. As far as the reporter's story being pointless, I agree. I also feel like that is at least a partly "of the times" thing. I'm not saying that 80s movies couldn't have important or fully fleshed out female characters, or that modern movies never have ones that aren't, but to me, 80s movies had women who were token love interests or who serve as nothing more than eye candy more often than they do now. Also, I wonder if it had partly to do with the kind of movie this is. I mean, like you guys said, this movie knows what it is. It knows its audience, so it's just like, get to the point and show us awesome fights. This fight feels very men only, so if she can't fight and the movie is supposed to be hyper-focused on the battle, then I can imagine that the writers just didn't know what to do with her. I also agree that something felt off about the acting, especially in the first act. It felt very stiff and wooden. I still liked the movie though, and the reaction is great.

I hope you can fit Kickboxer (1989) into the polls. I think that’s the most well known JCVD movie? I’d definitely consider it to be a much better movie, but it still has the cheesy 80’s action movie goodness. Also, I think Simone deserves to see the masterpiece that is Street Fighter. That would be a fun time.
