For me, what would help is putting something important like this, into a context where I also do other things that I also do by pure automation. Such a thing could be, whenever I have finished X I also flip the door sign. The X could be a task you do close to the door or a time sensitive thing that need to be done before the first customer shows up.

2025-01-02 23:55:31 +0000 UTCNot sure how much detail you want, but I'll have a crack: - Claire was applying for a bunch of jobs after successfully qualifying as a librarian, and didn't get anywhere for some time. She started working at Coffee of Doom to pay the bills. - Out of the blue, she got an interview request from Cubetown, which is a very weird, experimental (but prestigious and highly-sought-after) research facility. - The interview call was with Moray, who is a unique AI made of green goo who is a ditzy cinnamon roll. Honestly, I recommend reading the comics themselves so you can meet Moray. Here's her first appearance: https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4858 - Claire and Marten decided to visit Cubetown, and it became apparent that parts of the place were a hot mess. Claire flipped out over a security guard poking around their room (sidebar: I feel like this was a bit of an overreaction, but there we go) and demanded a meeting with the Director. The Director of Cubetown is a giant, deep sea jellyfish who communicates by splooting out Moray units (like our dear friend up there) to talk to people. - Anyway, Cubetown: hot mess, desperately in need of someone to organise the whole thing. I mean the *whole* thing. They offered the job to Claire with extremely generous terms. - Meanwhile, Marten went on a walk and met Liz, who is a young prodigy who was living knee-deep in rubbish in a basement because she was suffering from severe burnout and didn't want to admit it. He also realised that Cubetown has no coffee shop to speak of. - Marten brought Liz to Claire, who broke down in tears as she confessed her crisis. Claire was furious at the whole situation (and the fact that Liz's struggle went unnoticed for two years, see: Hot Mess™). She decided to take the job. Marten was on board and laid out his idea to start up a coffee shop in Cubetown while Claire worked as The Librarian (the caps are important). That's a very potted history, but I'm also missing out Liz's subsequent visit to Northampton, Moray following her to Northampton, and everything with the Director and Yay - if you can find the time, I encourage you to backread. :D It's good stuff.
