It's been over 30 years for my spouse and I, and I still remember the interminable photo shoot. I suspect it may be worse when the photographer is a relative (or a family friend, in our case). Luckily for the attendees, my best man got my spouse some food or there would have been blood.

I got used to never being able to have kids while a teenager, the religious in my family thought they could pray it to happen until a few years ago. I had already had no bits inside or out yet that could be relevant but they thought they could make it happen through prayers. I have been to many weddings and randos I didn't know were adamant about it happening too. Our society is so weird about it.

2024-10-21 14:05:36 +0000 UTCFun story about the "kids" question at weddings: I'm the youngest of three kids, and as my older siblings either changed their names or had all girls, it fell to me to "continue the family name", per my dad. He'd bring it up pretty much any time I saw him. When I started dating my partner, we were open about not wanting kids, to which he'd usually roll his eyes. At our wedding, my father took us aside to give us his blessing (he's very religious, we're not, but it was important to him), and told us that whether we had kids or not, he was happy for us. We don't agree on much anymore (our sporadic conversations are VERY superficial), but that was a very nice, VERY surprising moment from him.
