Liz Lore

Liz is the real nemesis here

Liz Lore

Comments

Hannalore sympathizes because Hannalore has a nemesis of her own. The Juicy-Couture lady.

Jeff Gedney

Well my worldview has been expanded a bit now. Yay!

TubaGinger

I've known at least one Hannelore IRL, maybe two.

Clifton Royston

My brother betrayed the society, so now he's called David.

Joseph Bonnar

Could'a been worse, could'a been a Blaupunkt...

Leak

More than once.

Ursus Ridens

OUR Hannerlore is nice. The jury is still out on Countess Hannelore von Schwarzpunkt

Bagge

Aint gonna lie - I'll pay good money for Countess Hannelore von Schwarszpunkt 4th grade harem anime/manga/visual novel

Bagge

yeah. reminds me of Jordan Kennedy from Exploitation Now. Only with, you know, social support.

Dennis Wright

@Ursus Ridens • Beryl Shereshewsky’s videos are a gem. Have you watched her Indian wedding video?

Miyaa

"What you've got to Schwartz yourself, Punkt, is - are you feeling lucky?" Sorry. It was in my head. Now it's in yours! You're welcome.

Stephen Wells

Bet you Emmett has some real strong opinions about the von Schwarzpunkts.

Stephen Wells

Apparently there is nothing that can be done about this. I checked with the UN.

Stephen Wells

Nope, Most of my YouTube watching is the almost annoyingly chipper Beryl Shereshewsky's food videos. But I can recommend Simon Winder's wonderful history/travelogue/memoir _Lotharingia_, which is full of that sort of stuff. (There is also _Danubia_, which is about the Habsburgs and even more full thereof, but depressing, and _Germania_, which I haven't been able to bring myself to read.)

Ursus Ridens

Maybe ....Megamind..? Midnight Bomber (What Bombs At Midnight) -Tick Him - Powerpuff girls Team Rocket - Pokemon

Zak Reichle

Are there a lot of people who are both a slacker and a supervillain?

Sean Kinlin

I'm amazed I have not seen this joke before (though maybe it was made before I joined the Patreon).

Sean Kinlin

I did, so now I'm really curious if she also has a doppelganger I've forgotten about. Seems like her life

Bagge

....aaaaaaand I just realized that THAT would have made me the dirtbag boyfriend Dad-Marten disapproved of!

joe velsher

GDI Mad Marie

Miyaa

I'm getting some weird slacker/supervillain vibes off of Liz. 19 year old me would have probably been bonkers for her.

joe velsher

Headcanon: Hannelore’s evil clone in https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1662 is named “Hannedata”.

Mad Marie

Perhaps Bagge is referring to the “clone” in https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1662 ?

Mad Marie

Doppleganger, not clone.

Opus the Poet

Seems like Hannelore finally got a lead on her evil clone

Bagge

Someone has been watching the YouTube channel series, “The American Viscountess.”

Miyaa

If Narbonic can have the Dave Society, then QC can have the Hannelore Institute complete with buildings with no windows and a secret tea ceremony. (Why Hannelore is so good with making tea for robots.)

Miyaa

Thank you for fleshing out some new headcanon additions for me

Zak Reichle

Sounds like Elizabeth was a minor character in HvS's harem anime.

Captain Button

That's what I assumed and was dreading instantly, I was actually less bothered by the outburst because of it.

Zak Reichle

The von Schwartzpunts seem like top-level snobs, but they haven't always had it so easy -- back in the fifteenth century, they were only von Graupunkts and had to polish their own armor. But then young Plunzhilde von Graupunkt caught the eye of Friedrich III, and the storied Anstieg der Schwarzpunkte began. Hannelore von S.'s father is from a cadet branch, and only inherited one dilapidated castle and a Mercedes limo which needs a ring job.

Ursus Ridens

Liz you be nice to the cinnamon roll or you will be going in the ocean

SheepFace2000

Is it me or was Liz creepin' on Marten a little bit in panel 1?

Uniquitous

I don't approve of people being mean to Hannelore. She's nice.

Chris Warren

One might surmise that Liz's nemesis was named to reflect on the space version. People tend to name children after famous people's choices.

dcy665 .

Wait, what? Is Hannelore some kind of version of חנלה or something? It sounded far more Germanic to me.

Yonatan Zunger

The origin's Hebrew, actually. I like it; pretty name.

YsabetJustYsabet

I know two people called Hannelore actually, and they know each other as well :D it's quite the normal German name, if a little old-fashioned

Sehrys

Bet she didn't see THIS in her simulations....

joe velsher

Hannelore is an actual name used by real people. I think it's Dutch

Fart Captor

The fact that there are two people named Hannelore at all, let alone that they are now separated by a mere 3 degrees of social connection, might be one of the more reality-stretching things Jeph has written.

TubaGinger

Maybe the real treasure was the nemeses we made along the way...

Hugh Eckert

The Liz baggage now expands to a full set including steamer trunk, dual hard sides, carry-on, makeup case, and laserprinted initials on all 10 pieces.

Ruth Merriam

One last thing: I really want to know now if Countess Hannelore von Scharzpunkt had 6 boyfriends and a chauffeur in the 4th grade. Would totally be more interesting than all these pre-teen/teen YA novels out there now.

Miyaa

Lady Hannelore of the Moth would be so goth.

Miyaa

The backstory thickens. Like grits that have been sitting out too long 🤪

DaddyUmbreon

I've sobered up and remembered far less embarrassing things than that and entombed myself for a week

Milayna

Yup!

Douglas E. Smith

Fun German game: If somebody comes up with a noble title, look what is actually named that. This time, it's a technique in photography/graphic design to adjust the color values, a skin condition, a company that produces polymers for construction usage. There is also a moth called Gelbe(r?) Schwarzpunkt-Flechtenbär.

Atashkada

Neither did Hannelore.

Joseph Bonnar

I didn't see this coming.

Carl Cravens

Yes, this makes me happy that some of my favorite universes are tied together. I suspect it's due to L-Space and Munden's Bar. There's even a QC reference in Girl Genius in one of the first splash pages of Mechanicsburg!

Douglas E. Smith

Well, Dina from "Dumbing of Age" has appeared in both QC and GG, so there is a some inter-dimensional route available...

Captain Button

Hannelore von Schwartzpunkt sounds like a character from Girl Genius.

Canopus

I misread "Von" as "you" and thought Liz was calling Hanners a "Schwartzpunkt", which sounds like something a drunk goblin would use as an insult. I thought Liz's reaction was some sort of inferiority complex to Hannelore's family connections (which, it still might be, but HVS, not HEC), but that's ridiculous as Marten never says her last name, and there's no reason to think that Liz knows anything about Marten's friends, as they've not shown any evidence of knowing much about Marten to this point.

Matt Pedone

Hannalore is a very common name around these here universes. (nods sagely)

Steve DeGroof

Nemeses gonna nemesis, eh?

Leak

…and now The Countess’s vengeance is complete! You just got Schwartzpunked, Liz!

Mad Marie

Jeph: *writing this comic* Ok so it’ll be Hannelore… um… *smashes face against keyboard* … yeah that looks like a real last name.

Gipepers

I keep discovering that I CAN in fact love Liz more

Fart Captor

Liz gives me huge Peridot vibes <3

Logan Nix

of the Schenectady Schwartzpunkts

Magic Chopstick Games

Hanners lore is that Liz lore does not include Hannelore...excellent 👌

Kristina

They probably are distantly related though.

Patrick Liston

And riding a black horse named Death.

Miyaa

Hanners can empathize with feeling like she was going to die from embarrassment

Zak Reichle

I assume that Hannelore von Schwarzpunkt looks exactly like Hanners but with dark hair and a tiara.

Dean Reilly

I demand that we get Liz's reaction shot when she discovers just which genius scientist's daughter she's actually talking to.
