Many Little Legs

Here you go: https://www.environmentalpestcontrol.ca/centipedes#:~:text=Although%20approximately%2070%20different%20species,common%20centipedes%20in%20North%20America. At least they're not Giant Desert Centipedes-- we have them here (Arizona) and they get up to 8" long and can sting the hell out of you.

YsabetJustYsabet

Oh I don’t even want to know about African or South American centipedes. Nope.

Peter Davoust

I think the biggest I’ve seen was maybe 7cm? Which isn’t massive, but it’s too big for something with that many legs.

Peter Davoust

Not huge by African or South American standards

Todd Ellner

They also eat roaches and silverfish, which can objectively cause actual harm to the house. I get it, that many legs squig me out something fierce, but they're strictly in the capture and release category in our house.

OftenSane

How huge is huge in this context? Are we talking 4 cm or 20 cm?

Clifton Royston

I abruptly need an INSECURITY T-shirt and/or badge.

Clifton Royston

House centipedes are totally adorable little beasts. Centipedes like the Pacific island varieties grow into big venomous monsters that are heart-stoppingly terrifying, and even the teeny tiny cute looking ones have excruciatingly painful bites. Know your monsters is all I'm saying.

Clifton Royston

I discovered house centipedes when I moved to Montreal. As mention before, they’re harmless to people (and actually kinda cool), but they’re terrifying and goddamn can they grow HUGE.

Peter Davoust

Do not send us centipedes. THE SPIDERS WILL TEACH THEM THEIR WAYS.

Ack

I didn't know I wanted them to have this back story, but now I refuse to believe otherwise.

Zak Reichle

since i don't live in australia i would much rather have spiders than centipedes

Todd Ellner

they eat spiders? OK, I am going to need you guys to ship a whole box of these to my place in Australia, STAT

Amanda L

House centipedes look creepy, but they're harmless, and they eat spiders.

Daryl Sawyer

"This is my security badge. It... helps a bit... sometimes..." (fidgets nervously) (accidentally discharges Taser into own foot) (chassis is, fortunately, not conductive) (gets hair braided soothingly by Claire)

Stephen Wells

They're an all acoustic percussion band. Their biggest hits are "Fascination is Forbidden" and "I Long for Nothing, Least of All You"

Dandi Andi

Anti Human League sounds like an AI band the exact opposite of 80s Brit Wave. What would that resemble?

ValdVin

So that's not a uniform for security it is in fact a security blanket.

Zak Reichle

Manitoban here. Can confirm on the house centipedes.

Dallas Hicks

The existing anti-human league wanted to bug their room to make a case against Claire.

Jim Feldman

Aren't we all? (Now I should probably quickly point out to my coworkers that killing me over my saying this would in fact prove that you're insecure. Hurting me in any way over it would, also. Just to be clear.)

Some Ed

I just realised that the Security lady is, in fact, insecure :) awwwwwwwww.

Stephen Wells

Aww, look at Claire already giving orders and taking charge. Where does she sign?

Ruth Merriam

I think you meant house hippos.

Nicolas Dao-Phan

I like them. I think of them as my tiny minions, patrolling my house for unwanted bugs and doing unspeakable things to them. Of course they're terrifying-looking - that's the point. The important thing is, they're on *my* side, and their loyalty is unquestionable.

Josh

I love my centipedes. They are like pretty little racing eyelashes.

Carol Metzger

One the plus side, they eat spiders. On the downside, they're still fucking terrifying in their own right.

Chris Crowther

As long as they don't get too big.

Summer Sudbrink

and yes we do have those in canada. Cats love 'em, and they keep the spider population down. they basically kill and eat anything smaller than them. so we like them, I guess?

joe velsher

Thanks to a friend I am now crushing on EVERY PINK HAIRED FEM I SEE. I'm not complaining, but it does complicate things.

Ted Van Roekel

Claire keep being The Best at her job (given that momming on androids will be her full time job, whatever else it might say on her business card)

Bagge

Aw but they're harmless lil fuzzy boys
