It's not "hip to the groove" but how about "Sam's got a lot of chutzpah"? (Pronounced hhuts-pah, with the leading sound being that...shit don't know how to describe this sound, uhm...wet static noise?...made with your tongue pressed to the back of your throat. Yiddish for audacity, self-confidence, impudence)

Taellosse

Ursus Ridens Yes -- I checked, and it's really close to the noses in CRFH (www.crfh.net). She must be Canadian.

Ursus Ridens

That's a Maritza Campos-Rebolledo nose if I've ever seen one.

David Grimes

Huge Points on Sam in panel 2, who just drew a line on a) an adult/authority figure and b) a customer ... in masculine-centric culture-speak, she's swingin' some massive brass balls (anyone want to chime in with an alt expression to above that doesn't sound like a lit/history class? I tried, but tired brain and not hip to the groove. Which former says much about my default wiring. Hmmm.)

JourneymanWizard

It's a Canadian nose.

Brooks Moses

That sounds like a rule that leads to being really impulsive so you don't have the 30 seconds between thought and action in which to giggle for too long.

Brooks Moses

I still think that Emmet's nose comes from some other, as yet unidentified comic.

Ursus Ridens

is that the one where you break a few windows & then arrest anyone in the vicinity that you don't like the look of??

Joe

so say we all!!

Joe

Me. I don't want a disembodied robot butt. Maybe an embodied robot butt would be OK, but I feel like I'd just lose a disembodied robot butt. I'd sit it on a shelf and then ten years later someone would ask me about it and I'd say, "Um, I don't know, I don't recall ever seeing that before. Where did it come from?"

reminds me of this list https://wildboarblog.wordpress.com/random/213-things-skippy-is-no-longer-allowed-to-do-in-the-u-s-army/

Depends (chuckle)

Liam Barksdale

Emmet needs my rule. If the thought of doing something makes me giggle for more than 30 -45 seconds, it's probably a bad idea.

Marc Tabor

Emmett can do little a crimes, as a treat 😤

Fart Captor

(from the forthcoming neo-noir/buddy-cop movie starring Beeps & Millefeuille)

Forget it, Beeps. This friggin' town.

William Cole

Harsh. Sam's still just a kid - she still has some growing up to do. From her PoV she's just looking after her friend which is even more important at that age than it is later in life.

David Durant

Beeps is trying to help but unfortunately it’s actively making the situation worse. Beeps isn’t reading into the reaction Emmet is having and Sam is. Sam is actually trying to end the conversation that is distressing Emmet. If you reread the last couple strips you can tell the Emmet has somewhat of a crush on Sam and is also very much afraid of losing the only friend they’ve made since they’ve moved in.

Beeps was trying to make Emmet feel better, what's with the attitude from Sam? Also Beeps had a good point, a point another reader also made, if Emmet continues to act like they did their friend's parents are going to see them as a bad influence. Sam continues to be my least favorite character

dragonkittyrawr

Beeps believes in the broken windows theory of policing.

Elberik

Hmm... A new Patreon tier, maybe?

Dilemma01

Who doesn’t?

William Karr

I still want a disembodied robot butt...

Sam being protective ...! 😭💚

Daniel Blom Paulsen

I SHIP IT

Drew Basford

I love Sam's protective mode. Although unfortunately based on her skill here and her story from early about meeting Emmett at the unpopular kids table, I worry that she's had to practice it a few times.

Lisa

I have a feeling I will find many uses for the phrase “Let it go, Beeps.”
