Oat milk is A++ for convenience. Super easy to make -- just blend oats + water and strain out the solids. All the raw ingredients are non-perishable, so as long as you have oatmeal in your pantry and a sink that provides potable water, you can have on-demand milk without having to buy it within a tight expiration date. I'm not trained as a barista and can't comment on how well home-made oatmilk steams, but it's great for my needs.

So I have been told that oat steams up the best when making lattes and such, so it has become a fairly common alternative offering at coffee shops.

i don't disagree, but the right oat milk can actually be quite creamy. I usually get whole milk but I've thought Oatly is pretty decent, and if I were really distracted I might take a few sips to notice

Lol as an avid lover of all things dairy, I promise you that I have bought non-dairy ice cream by accident or gotten a messed up Starbucks order and I can ALWAYS tell something is wrong. I will say it's not always the flavor that gives it away.....usually more of like a texture issue. Other stuff is not as thick/creamy/fatty (yeah, don't give me skim either, bleh).

Yup i was surprised, all the other “milks“ taste horrible, but oats is my viable alternative to cow juice.

I'm not lactose intolerant and not vegan and still enjoy oat milk (the barista type) in my coffee because it tastes the best in my opinion.
