But this ISN'T speech. This is typing. It's a lot less forgivable to make this kind of mistake on a forum than in real life. When you make a mistake on a forum, you can correct it. Not to mention, even in speech there's a difference between "she -- I mean they" and just using "she" over and over. It's the latter that's being complained about. This may not have been a "thing" in common speech 20 years ago, but it absolutely was 10 years ago and a decade is more than enough time to become accustomed to it.

Jeph has stated before that misgendering them isn't okay, regardless of whether only one body is on screen or not, regardless of how femme you look you can still use they, you don't need to be 50/50 androgynous at all times to be nonbinary
