Where I live in US it is currently 2am with a current temperature of 101 Fahrenheit (38.33 Celsius). During the day it's even more hot and with everyone's AC units running at full power it's not uncommon for a transformer to explode every so often. Our substation "exploded" about a month ago. Took nearly the entire day for the electric service workers to bring it back online.

I'm going to ask the same question as yesterday - is part of the electricity infrastructure blowing up just a thing that happens in Canada / the US? The idea of an electricity substation blowing up here in the UK is unthinkable.

That seemed to be as much about getting caught by Dale as it was about running out of juice. Seems like the smart move would be to put oneself into the lowest power mode possible and plug in behind a surge protector. Maybe set the equivalent of an alarm to wake you once you drop below a certain threshold or when morning rolls around.

Smacking myself for not realizing the implications of a power outage when I read yesterday's strip. Like, "ah well, guess it'll be dark for a while", as opposed to, "oh hell, which of our neighbours weren't at full charge?" I mean, May ran out of power at Sven's place and got revived, but clearly that was really distressing. And we don't know if any systems deteriorate when charge gets too low for too long, and and and I'm not overthinking this, you're overthinking this

I think it's interesting that Yay worries about safety. I wonder what Yay regards as "unsafe."

If I had to guess (and I do), I'd say that this body is their "interact publicly" body so they put on the AI "accent" and avoid a valley uncanny from both sides.
