IMHO - I think their body Squishyness is a matter of choice with a range tied to purpose,... it allows Bubbles foe example to tank a car or bend steel in her bare hands yet be soft and squishy enough to ruin faye regularly. Kind of like smart fabrics in Science fiction.

Very random question, and I wouldn't be surprised if this has been answered before, but how soft and/or squishy are the robot's bodies? For example, would May's waist give/deform if she tried to pull the apron tighter around her waist? The only description I can think of from the comic is that one time Faye and Marten described Bubbles' abdomen as "like a slinky full of ball bearings" or something to that effect.
