Doug did you just admit you being a supervillain? If so, you have to tell us your plans.
2021-03-08 07:45:03 +0000 UTC
Oh, man.
You're just come up with the real truth about what Yay is doing there. They're getting the accoutrements needed to become the supervillain they have always wanted to be.

As someone with a long-haired white cat myself, I do have to point out that Hercules would make an *awesome* supervillain's cat.

They seem to wear frames following a theme, similar with small changes at hip and torso, all with dark hair and slitted eyes. I feel they only "play" at being "Spookybot" because it was easiest - and now they are learning how to be people.
(I'm rooting for them.)

On a side note involving Yay:
They are truly an untapped resource. They have access to immediate information on a lot of things that Roko, Clinton, even Pintsize would benefit from.
(Trying to sidetrack myself from still wondering how many frames they have and how many do they operate at a time.)
Speaking of frames, I know the end of times will come when Pintsize decides to "grow up"
(Yes, for him it's a choice.)
Sorry for the ramble.

... why does Yay have a robot neckline all of a sudden? In previous arcs, she didn't. Did something happen? Do some instances of her have necklines and some don't?
I've suspected for some time now she's not actually a robot, but an upload (it would explain the lack of nicety that other robots have).

For what it's worth, I've met a few cats who seem to prefer their legs to dangle. They actively seemed to encourage people picking them up, but if their legs were supported, they just used the being picked up as a spring board. Meanwhile, if their legs were left to dangle, they'd not only not squirm, but tended to remember who picked them up like that, and sought out them specifically.
I don't understand, other than the general principles that different people are different and cats are people. I also acknowledge that, in the much more common case, you would absolutely be correct. But I don't know Hercules specifically.

Fun fact: there are 12 beer stains on the front and right side of that particular shirt that he hasn't been able to get out. Nobody else can tell, though, so he keeps wearing it. He's still pretty embarrassed by it. (I don't know how many are on the back or left side, since Jeph only showed front and right side shots so far. It's a different shirt than https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4376 as it's not the same color, and the beer stains are different. I'm not going back much earlier than that to see if we see this same shirt from another perspective.)
Edit: at least 8 stains. Two of the stains on the front and three of the stains on the right side appear to continue back to the uncharted space. It is conceivable that the back and left side of the shirt are basically one giant beer stain.

"Things like" you say. But it's really just those two searches, minor variations of those two searches (like "How to hold hands with someone much much shorter than you" and "How to hold hands with someone much shorter than you without feeling awkward") plus stuff about bread.
The most scandalous search in his history occurred the day after he learned that there were AIs with bread fetishes, but it was "Do some AIs actually have bread fetishes", rather than asking for details on how it worked. A detail did show up in the included text for the first link anyway, and so he immediately turned off the entire computer in response. (Anyone who isn't into bread more than the normal amount would've not recognized that detail as anything out of the ordinary, and he didn't, but he saw the words 'bread' and 'aroused', and given the search in question, that was too much detail for him.)

Still is. Yay was... surprisingly generous, considering, but then, Yay was just operating under a generalized dislike of their activities.
Pretty sure the penalty for hurting someone Yay actually has an interest in the wellbeing of would be much more.. vigorous...

Yay already knows Elliot's search history consists entirely of innocuous things like "How to hold hands with someone much shorter than you" (and that Elliot got embarrassed immediately and closed the tab), "cute photos of huge fluffy cats", and bread baking blogs. And they probably have a script set up to notify them if Elliot ever searches for anything not innocuous.

Yes, but they're not about to acquire any of those things, either. They're also not about to hack into any security cameras already installed in Clinton's house.
I mean, they *did* that already. The job is done and sufficient. Why bother doing it again? It would just increase their exposure for no real point.

I know it’s not earth-shattering, but I love how unremarkable (in that it goes uncommented on in-world, not that it’s not remarkable to see) the appearance of nb characters and ungendered pronouns are in this series. And then I think about characters that are trans and bi and gay and lesbian and queer and… it’s all too much for my little heart to handle. Thank you, Jeph, for grokking how much representation matters. 😁

I really like how Yay has evolved as a character. Seeing them cuddle Hercules while talking about all the things they could do if they chose is just adorable but also a reminder that there's a heck of a lot more to them than meets the eye.
