I learned recently that the reason cat pupils go from wide to narrow is that this is how they can more easily see prey through long grass. So it's a hunting trait.

I think it's the opposite. Unless someone told Elliot about Yay's capabilities off-screen he probably thinks they're just Mellon's upscale slightly arrogant friend.
Andrew L Butula
2020-10-14 16:46:18 +0000 UTC
Yeah, tough guy crossed arms you tuck your hands, whereas Elliot is more grabbing his own upper arms.
Doesn't have the same "fuck you" visual effect but probably smarter for a bouncer. Things can escalate quickly, and with Elliot's stance his top arm is totally free, and his bottom arm only slightly less so.

Stephen Wells

Elliot is awake.
Therefore, Death cannot take him. Not because Death has to wait until he's asleep, but because Elliot would beat Death up and keep beating him up until Death gives him something to make him go away.
It's the same way Elliot got his baking skills. He got them from the Devil. Elliot didn't sell his soul-he just kept beating up the Devil until the Devil gave him something to make him go away.

Mr. Ifrit
2020-10-14 01:11:24 +0000 UTC
Well, let's be fair, Yay! is small, petite, and unarmed. Elliot has probably bounced GIRLS that are taller, more muscular, either wielding a bottle or straight razor (maybe both), and so drunk that the idea of getting in a fight with the human bear is a Good Idea. We've had at least one or two scenes where Elliot been half-way in a fight, bleeding, and is still being NICE while getting ready to kick somebody's ass.
So, Yay! might be creepy, but Elliot's reading of Yay! is "creepy, but might be relying more on being a creepy ass that can read the room well, rather any real competence." The hilarious scene of Yay! being thrown out a window when Yay! tries to push it, going back and complaining that Elliot surprised Yay! and THIS TIME Yay! will succeed...
Only to be thrown out ANOTHER window. Maybe the same one as before-windows are expensive!
