I really enjoy Yay's combination of spot-on analysis of humans' interactions coupled with her inability (or unwillingness) to play by human social norms. She's being tactless in panels 2 and 3, and if she had previously established a pattern of communicating politely, it would be rude and insulting. But since it's her, it's reassuring. In any case, Elliot seems a bit reassured.
In general I enjoy how Jeph writes a diversity of communication styles that reflect characters who process ideas differently from each other.

I think you misunderstand - the Paradons were an elite regiment of Italian Special Forces raised in Sicily. During the early stages of the Second World War, they were dropped behind enemy lines to buy up businesses and offer special insurance to local military forces which would have a variety of unfortunate accidents if (or sometimes even though) they failed to pay. Unfortunately, after several remarkably successful campaigns, the unit had lost so many of its members to internal attrition ("friendly fire" was a particular problem) that it had to be disbanded. Most of the Italian government of the time survived the dissolution of the unit, but Benito Mussolini was severely wounded and walked with a limp for the rest of his life.
