Super true! But also: Yay is a 'they' not a 'she'. Just a heads up! :)

P

Hercules doesn't need a diet. He just has a big head

jimbo

The character growth of Yay is such a joy to watch.

A Para-Dong is an emergency air-dropped

Stephen Wells

A Para-Don is a sort of auxiliary Professor at Oxford University.

Captain Button

Yay has many bodies, they may not all be the same exact configuration.

Captain Button

Since when has Yay developed a neck vent?

Kurious

I wonder if Yay knows where they are.... a comic...., as in Genre-Savvy.

CaseyAEC

I think that's supposed to be paragon.

Ack

I love Yay's eyes in panel 1, and that paw in panel 2

Cathal Mc Ginley

"Paradon"? :-)

David Pipes

I think they're more interested in the prospect of chaos.

Flounder

Each one has an obviously false disguise on.

Did Yay just flirt with Eliot? Or am I projecting?

Wolfger

"paradon" (panel 3): 'paradox' + 'mastodon' =an improbable creature, outdated by time and circumstance i.e a suave confident bisexual near-virgin

jimbo

Paradon?

YourKingMob

Uh... Is Elliot slimming up too?

Local Cinnamon Roll Gets Romantic Advice By Robo-Cthulhu

lazymagpie

Now now, Roko isn't here.

RaptorShadow

I'm totally going to name an album "The Chasm of Romantic Farce"

Glenn

The "chasm" of romantic farce is such an apt description.

Nicholas Kratzer

Yay romantic farce!

Stomat

CAT!!!!!

JourneymanWizard

So it's the paragon of essence of being?

Devin Forbes

I can just see what would happen if Clinton met Yay, fanboy meets godlike AI. Faye might have to talk him down.

Michael Boettger

I'm sorta surprised she didn't offer to play the role of bread dough.

Nathaniel Tagg

Sed kial la akuzativo en tiu frazo?

Ace

I really enjoy Yay's combination of spot-on analysis of humans' interactions coupled with her inability (or unwillingness) to play by human social norms. She's being tactless in panels 2 and 3, and if she had previously established a pattern of communicating politely, it would be rude and insulting. But since it's her, it's reassuring. In any case, Elliot seems a bit reassured. In general I enjoy how Jeph writes a diversity of communication styles that reflect characters who process ideas differently from each other.

Lisa

OMG that side-eye Yay is showing in panel too. And their look of mischief as they deliver that final line. Amazing work Jeph. You just know we come here for our daily dose of romantic farce.

Andrew Mitchell

Did someone say 'Wacky hijinks?" Yay said 'Wacky hijinks'!

Bagge

or paragon?

allanfranta

Itโ€™s a perfectly cromulent word!

Eric Sieck

Reasonability? Is that a word? Is that a new word? I think 'reasonableness' would be more appropriate.

Alex Borders

Paradon: Accusative singular of Parado in the Esperanto language. Parado = stopped in Esperanto

Jeff Hartley

Damnit, I come here for the questionable content, not life advice! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Cliff

Typo... paradon?

Julia Allen-Hesse

Yay is growing on me. Slowly.

Joseph Bonnar

I think you misunderstand - the Paradons were an elite regiment of Italian Special Forces raised in Sicily. During the early stages of the Second World War, they were dropped behind enemy lines to buy up businesses and offer special insurance to local military forces which would have a variety of unfortunate accidents if (or sometimes even though) they failed to pay. Unfortunately, after several remarkably successful campaigns, the unit had lost so many of its members to internal attrition ("friendly fire" was a particular problem) that it had to be disbanded. Most of the Italian government of the time survived the dissolution of the unit, but Benito Mussolini was severely wounded and walked with a limp for the rest of his life.

Wow, it's got to be such an advantage to be an AI when playing with cats... claws can't possibly hurt as much!

Kenneth Carlile

Well, since a chasm is a deep hole, I shudder to think what part of you that's your wife's nickname for.

awgiedawgie

You're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, people like you.

Raphael Bressel

I was thinking the same thing. Did a Google and a paradon is a type of viola lol

Bradley Richard

Oh lord, we already have one Don, we couldn't survive two!

Summer Sudbrink

Get it, Hercules!

Hugh Eckert

At long last it's come to this, Jepf? Esperanto?

Funny you should say that, 'the chasm of romantic farce' is my wife's nickname for my -- HEY WHAT'S THAT OVER THERE

Simon Green

They're a force for farce.

Hugh Eckert

Eight drunken Spookybots show up at the bar looking for trouble, to give Elliot the maximum opportunity to appear confident.

Dean Reilly

Elliot, more adorable than the cat. That's hard for a cat lover like me to say, believe me!

SpookyPenguin

Panel 3: paradon ---> paragon?

Michael Voorhis

i suspect Yay is immune to physical force, so to have this effect it would have to be an *emotional* gut punch. ... and now i kind of want to see that storyline.

LH

Came here to suggest this.

Ashleah

Elliot, you're good enough. And listen to Yay. They can probably synthesize advice from Ann Landers to Ask Emily. And they're probably right enough about this.

Michael Boettger

There is going to be a day when Yay! manages to annoy the WRONG person and discovers, "Hey, so this is what being punched in the face feels like! Let's not do it again because it HURTS!"

z

Ooh, farce seems fun

Carin Maja Brooks

A Paradon is a type of dinosaur that epitomises the very essence of being.

Kristina Preusker

paradon->paragon

Arlnoff

That is absolutely part of his appeal.

Isaac Rivers

I think Yay is possibly a force for good here. Their desire for romantic farce aside

GregD

Just be yourself, it's worked so far.

Michael
