Somebody probably already pointed that out, but most cats can't actually be carried like that, because their body is very flexible (and not stiff as a dog's) ; so if one carries a cat this way without putting a hand under the rear paws to maintain the cat, said cat will likely slip through the arms and fall on the floor. Sorry, cat nerd here and thinking about that every time I see someone holding Hercules this way >.<

Yeah I don't know why anyone would still be trying tomato juice now that we have something simple and cheap and available that actually works.

Polydactyl cats are awesome.
Once upon a time I'd had to euthanize my cat and decided that, while I wanted another, I wasn't in a hurry. I decided to visit the local pound every Saturday and adopt the next "mitten kitten" I saw. I knew they came through once in a while, but figured the probability was low enough that it would take a while.
So of course one showed up within two weeks. I was second in line for adoption, but the first people never showed, so less than a month later we were blessed by a polydactyl tortoiseshell I named Melissa.
...No particular reason for the name. Just seemed to fit.

I recently watched Kiki's Delivery Service for the first time in a long while and so I just now realized Elliot shares some characteristics with the hulking muscular inarticulate baker in that movie. No wonder that he was picturing Brun as Kiki way back when she first appeared at the bakery.

The extra toes are a strain that has been in Massachusetts for centuries. "Boat people" -- Tories who supported the legitimate government of King George III who had to flee from Boston -- one of their houses is across the street from mine -- took many such cats to Nova Costa. But there are still some such cats here in Boston. I've seen them.
