Command And Control

Roko tries

Command And Control

Comments

Remember when Winslow was an iPod shuffle? Lol this strip has come so far

Tali

"She's an angel..." He said IIRC. Plus, who ISN'T interested in Roko?

Shawn K. Younkin

LOL- I figured he just forgot to post. XD

Shawn K. Younkin

Aw, no Monday strip yet? No biggie though, I'm going to bed.

Mark

Winslow got insta crush on her at first sight right before the Faye/Claire interlude if I have my timing right.

Indigo

Is Winslow interested in her? I thought he was just being helpful because he thinks it's his calling, but maybe I'm forgetting something.

Brian

Yup. An outfit that consists of a good idea and an org chart but little more. A little funding becomes available and the senior volunteers get plugged in at the top. Sometimes those bosses can kill an effort, but others understand the principle of "Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way." Beeps seems to be one of those. And sometimes boards hesitate to depend too much on a powerhouse volunteer because they can be offered better paid positions by better funded entities. The Roko/Nelson dynamic is going to be the interesting one.

OldGoat

Well, unfortunately, after bread apparently comes human abs. I think the closest Winslow can come to getting some of those is to have Sam write "human abs" on his belly. But third place isn't necessarily bad. But I think that Winslow would be much better off getting a job at a bakery and learning how to make what she really likes.

Some Ed

The reason I typically chose is "they're incompetent, so it'll be far more work for me to clean up later than they'll ever do." If somebody competent were to want to do my job, I'd have to think about that one. To be fair, I'm not 100% certain Roko is necessarily competent. She's just clearly more competent than Beeps. I haven't really noticed much of what Nelson's doing. Most likely because he's busy doing the real work of the charity.

Some Ed

I get the feeling that Beeps became "the boss" by accident/default. She doesn't really want the job, but she accepts it because she cares about the organization. It's never been mentioned how many people work there, but it's possible that Nelson was the only other choice, and he said "not it" first.

awgiedawgie

Hey, maybe that's what she's into. You know, after bread.

Daryl Sawyer

Oh no, lil guy. She called him lil guy. Will Winslow get his heart broken?

Indigo

its good to delegate to an assistant manager! as long as she's not doing anything anyway

‘No one knows how to do officering, Fred. That’s why they’re officers. If they knew anything, they’d be sergeants.'

Leadership by following the right grunt. The mark of a lieutenant who won't get shot by their own soldiers.

Nicolas Dao-Phan

Maxim #2. #3 is "An ordnance technician at a dead run outranks EVERYBODY." But that doesn't apply here. Yet.

Jeffrey Nonken

A Sergeant in motion outranks a Lieutenant who doesn't know what's going on.

Daniel Farnitano

I love Winslow so freakin’ much! 💕

Reminds me of a 2nd Lieutenant and a Staff Sergeant I knew. Don't abdicate authority to Roko, Beeps, but do let her mentor you.

OldGoat

God damnit, Beeps. Get it together, will ya?

I -like- Winslow.

Joseph Bonnar

I get the impression Beeps is entirely down with someone else doing the actual organising of people.

Chris Crowther

???

Fart Captor

yesss little hats

Damien

Stole it right out from under me. ;) But she's not as Trying as Pintsize, it should be noted.

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

Look, if someone wanted to volunteer to do my job for me, why would I stop them

Minzoku Bokumetsu

I love this storyline. Totally. That said, I think we should see some good ol' T n A with one of the other semi-complicated couples/throuples for a bit, then come back here to catch up. I want tattoos! I want awkwardness! I want weird hats! OK, I'm better now. Keep up the great work, Jeph!

It sounds like you like to be productive. An evil person would leave the gaps in management, and would silently get paid for doing nothing until the higher ups figured out what the problem was.

awgiedawgie

We have been reading the same comic, right? Beeps interviewed Roko and hired her. That sort of requires "boss" status. And if there was any doubt, it was confirmed that she is Roko's boss in #4027.

awgiedawgie

awwww, beeps is chill with this

Bagge

Senators Dickfart and Pissballs are long-time political allies.

Dean Reilly

I am an evil person. At work we have management "gaps", which I silently fill until they become important, at which point I stop. I'm a senior-as-hell engineer, but I ain't no manager. I love how people look around wondering whose job it was to do whatever it was. I call it my stealth clue-by-four. I may be evil, but I'm not mean: I leave enough clues for them to figure it out. Gradually, management improves.

BobC

Cute Roko is cute in anything, ergo, anything is cute that cute Roko is wearing.

Shawn K. Younkin

That is a very cute top Rokos wearing.

Roko's trying -- she's very trying. (So is everyone else, including me/us.)

Jim and Rachel Trigg

And nobody puts Baby in a corner! ;->

Jim and Rachel Trigg

Which is?

Michael Schmidt

Beeps, you really should let Roko take over running the place so you can focus on what you're good at...

Andrew Mitchell

so, you'd be working directly UNDER her ... knowwhatImean! wink, wink, nudge, nudge, saynomore!

Joe

The robots grandpa!

Fart Captor

Sounds like they think of him as Robot Grandpa

Fart Captor

Grandpa robots??

Joe

Hmm, so if all robots know than Hannerlore’s dad is like their god at the genesis of robotic creation, do they all treat him like a dismissive god-man of sorts?

Miyaa

just had a vision of roko topping winslow, and i liked it.

runrin

4200. Hm. The answer to Life, the Universe and Everything times 100? Nope, got nuthin.

Sooner or later Beeps is just going to abdicate because she's more comfortable with Roko in charge.

Ted Van Roekel

Every human has one. Some are just better at hiding it than others.

Ted Van Roekel

Are there any well-adjusted synthetic peeps, or do they all have That One Quirk in addition to their personality?

Ardent Slacker

Nobody's gonna make a joke about the comic number?

Adam Friedlander

Who does a minion in motion outrank?

dat guy

Oh! I didn't realize Beeps was the boss. I assumed she was just a more experienced coworker, and all the orders were coming from some third party we hadn't met. Nice that Winslow finally got around to joining the crew. After May had him convinced he'd be some sort of perv creep for asking it seemed like that would be the end of it.

Mitchell Sealy

To quote another one of my favorite webcomics: "A sergeant in motion outranks a lieutenant who doesn't know what's going on."

Wolfger

She'll figure it out one of these days.

drone r0m-3

One side that says the business bit, the other side says "Fuck off, nothing to see here you nosy c-word."

Shawn K. Younkin

Beeps: I like it when Roko plays the boss 🥵

Sandrock

No, Winslow! NO!

Matt Grayson

She is adorable, isn't she.

awgiedawgie

So cute, I can't even handle!

Lord Crusade

"Why does your business card have two sides on it?"

Grant Swire

And Winslow volunteers his way into Roko's circle. And grandpa robot!

Michael Boettger

She can suggest it, at least!

R L

roko is baby

Tamara Macadam

Hey, I wouldn't complain to have Roko as my boss.

Bailey Tighe

If you act like boss, you boss.

Errol Lobo

I love Beeps
