i have to click on the comic anyway since most of the time its really small on my screen

When I clicked through to see the post on Patreon, it was also cropped, and there was nothing to tell me how to see the whole comic. On a whim I clicked on the cropped view and then could see the whole thing. Today I can see the whole thing, but as Peter says above, it is blurry. Even if I click on the image, it is still somewhat blurry, but if I open the image in a new tab, it is sharp. My guess is that this is a feeble attempt to deal with other sites that are ripping off content from Patreon and posting it free on their own sites.

I'm sure they just want to increase some kind of BS user interaction metric. You can't track users that just view the e-mail that easily... :)

Website and app seem to be fine when checking in my phone. The email was cropped though and today is the first time I’ve seen it that way.

For years at least, I haven't viewed the comics as-is on the web site (desktop Chrome) anyway. It looks blurry. I have to click to show the whole thing in a pseudo-popup, which isn't blurry but is smaller, then view that image in a tab by itself, & resize it to full size. Every. Day. Only then does it look as good as it does on http://ass.golf/ .

Gotta wonder if they're doing this specifically to drive logins to their website because I normally read the comic directly in the Patreon email and then just delete it.

I wonder if they're trying to push their app. I refuse to install it, since 99% of what I back on patreon is either early-view comics or stuff to download, and NEITHER is useful on my 5" screen phone. (The other 1% is WoW addon authors, who don't put out pictures at all, or even post most of the time, so they don't count.)

I actually like the change on mobile since I zoom to open anyways, and I don't have to worry about the zoomed image opening partially off the screen. On desktop it's annoying as I don't normally zoom in.

Huh. That is weird. It cropped the image in the notification email as well. I tended to go to the site and tap the comic anyway, at least on my phone, so I can zoom in and read panel-by-panel.

The preview is very useless now in email and web - and if I tap in web for full screen, it displays bigger than my iPad screen, with no way to scroll.

It's also cropped in the email delivery, which is normally how I read it. So I have to click to open and load it in a browser, and then click again to actually blow up the image. Doubly annoying on mobile devices.

I was able to read it just fine by tapping on it, it seems like it only cropped the preview
