Here's another kid living the dream like Sam: https://boingboing.net/2019/11/04/a-9-year-old-boy-who-was-told.html

Clifton Royston

Yes, I think Bubbles needs to step in and let them know how immature both of them are behaving. One of the reasons for Sam having this internship is to learn how things work in the adult world, and Faye is not setting a good example.

awgiedawgie

They should cross sell. Perhaps have a folder of potential aesthetic upgrades and internal upgrades they can leaf through while getting their 'ink' and Sam could have a portfolio customers can leaf through while having their ass upgraded

Fay should be spending her spare time doing art stuff. She already sold one piece (and her *first* piece in this town, no less), and if it's on display in her shop, it may give her customers ideas.

Daryl Sawyer

Last days of summer in New England.

Shawn K. Younkin

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. This is more like ... upselling? It would only be competing with Sam if choosing one body modification meant they couldn't choose another as well.

Peter Jensen

Sam's business may have the edge is busy-ness, but Faye and Bubbles are way ahead in busty-ness.

Somebody Else

An orgy obviously!

melloncollic

OK, while we were all focusing on Jeff’s butts disease, he seems to be having a quickly evolving light top complication: everyone seems to be wearing a tank top today, last strip Hanners wore a strapless one, and today we see a crop top… where is this leading to?

Comics Ladybird

That will happen, but the bottom line for is this: there will be a LOT of customers who want "An ORIGINAL by Sam!"

Joseph Bonnar

I'm still surprised that nobody seems to have tried to copy Sam's business model yet...

Leak

Wow, Jeph's art just keeps evolving, doesn't it?

Mark

Body mods!!!! I said it before, I'll say it again. Make this shit a beauty salon. I mean, CORPSE WITCH of all people told her the score. https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3007

I am SUPER torn on this one. Which is a sign of good writing! On the one, Faye is completely entitled to her feelings and I would say she’s “right” in the sense that what is happened completely sucks for her, but sarcastically kowtowing to Sam is completely the wrong way to go about it! Sam shouldn’t be having to make Faye feel better, but she also should maybe be more cognizant if the fact that Faye/Bubbles are allowing her space. I think they get a cut from her sprays, though, so it’s not like she’s just squatting. ALSO she’s young and might not even realize that she’s being disrespectful, since Faye is “starting it”! I HOPE THEY TALK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS SOON

I think the point Faye needs to keep in mind here is that Sam is a cute little kid and she's selling her art for a few bucks. She can do sprays all week and earn less than Faye would in a single sale of one of her own works, 'cause sprays are super low-investment novelties.

Diptych

Good catch on the tank top.

Populuxe

Sam is modeling her behavior after Faye's behavior.

Jonathan

Of course. I think this will all be sorted out pretty smoothly. Despite how she's acting right now she thinks the world of both Faye and Bubbles and probably the moment they even lightly scold her she'll correct her behavior. I guess I'm just getting worked up since some people in the comments seem to be defending her behavior, because Sam bought her own markers, and I guess that means Faye's not truly her boss or something. I'm sick and I've been up too late and I should probably get back to resting.

Mitchell Sealy

How old is Sam at this point? She's still a kid, and kids often do incredibly stupid things. That's how they learn. :)

Autographedcat

That would be William Armstrong - inventor of the hydraulic crane.

awgiedawgie

Calder is as famous for his Stabiles, which wouldn’t be as bad in a windy day. Henry Moore might be a better choice.

Matt Grayson

Sam, you're the intern, and Faye is your boss - not the other way around.

awgiedawgie

Except Sam is an intern there, so she still has to respect the chain of command. That doesn't mean Faye is right, but Sam is being a bit disrespectful, and someone (i.e. Bubbles) needs to call her on it.

awgiedawgie

It's also rude to treat your friend and owner of your workspace like a PA, Sam

MiqoRems

Not having heard of Alexander Calder, i had to look him up and found this: https://media.architecturaldigest.com/photos/5bda1b237c86c80e83b4b389/4:3/w_3000,h_2250,c_limit/20181023_HW_Calder_004_.jpg Yes, Fay. It would be horrible, but yet exciting on windy days.

Darla Donahue

More like a barber/hair stylist - she's like a tenant who uses floor space, and pays rent to the 'boss'.

Not her employee. More like her tenant. They said split the gross, and Sam is paying for her own supplies- that's not employment.

Chuck Dee

That’s not poaching, Sam. It’s only poaching if she’s offering the same product.

Populuxe

Hey, Faye: try being my age (pushing 60) and knowing that I will almost certainly always have a boss younger than me, for the rest of my career.

Carl Fink

Also, same model line as Beeps and the Emu researcher?

Michael Boettger

Which artist’s style influenced the unicorn-horn sculpture coming out of Faye’s head in panels 2&3?

Mad Marie

Absolutely a big mood. Sometimes the stuff you work the hardest on isn't successful :( (Btw I noticed a colouring issue in the 2nd panel, faye's tank top is still green in one place)

Dave, Duke of Fridges

Dial it back a bit there, Faye. We get you are upset, but now is not the time.

Michael Boettger

Ooof right in the feelings about watching people younger than me be wildly successful.

Anton
