Heh. Roko's unconscious made a joke. Amputees have phantom limbs. Roko is dreaming of a phantom body, which, luckily, doesn't hurt the way phantom limbs often do.

It would be crazy and kinda awesome if Spookybot like, gave Roko a little nudge that triggered this dream which just happens to resolve her issues. In fact, being a crazy powerful AI, that could be one of Spookybot's things. They could forsee and model advanced situations and figure out subtle "perception-of-free-will-preserving" actions that just nudge things in a direction of greater total well-being.

Tangential thought—I was thinking about what a cool a name "Roko Basilisk" is, and then wondered how AI get their names in the QC universe (aside from Jeph being good at naming characters). Do they choose them? Are they assigned at...awareness (or whatever the equivalent of "birth" is)?

The ghost of her previous body needs to proverbially smack Roko upside the head and tell her to snap out of it. She can't have her old body back, so accept the new one. Yes, I <b>know</b> it's not as simple as that, so nobody jump down my throat. But hearing that from her own subconscious may just be the best thing for her.
