Talking of niceness - most truly nice people are nice exactly because they know what evil, pettiness and cruelty they are capable of, and working hard to avoid it, but never to ignore it. Great example is Hanners after confrontation with her mother. Even Sven is doing well lately exactly because he knows that he's an asshole. So that's why Momo is likeable and interesting - not because she's always good and forgiving, but because she chooses to be so after episodes like that.

That's kinda been the whole series though, ain't it? One of the things I like about Jeph, he's the anti-Seinfeld. At the top of the Seinfeld series' writer's bible was this: "NO LEARNING. No one gets any wiser. Ever." Jeph's subtle art, comic timing instinct, and the slow-roll format of his webcomic have allowed him to mirror his own growing compassion and human understanding in the characters he writes about, and I think it's lovely. Still waiting on Marigold (cf: #1475).
