Shame Currency

he'd have at least five dollars

noy thinks its strange that these two would be placed in a relationship together, sure may has always been standoffish, and is looking for that new edge all the time, noy kinda feels sven will stoop lower, maybe perhaps, "taste a melon".

Shoot, he might even already have one for having done a jingle for Regular Persons™. XD

They met at her work earlier in their evening. She was on break while he was having a personal epiphany.

Scott Barta

So, Sven knew where she worked?

GhostlyYorick

The Karma, she is the BITCH!!! Sven hooked up with a lady who can out-dick him!!!!!!

Bill Hall

She even says she only shows anger. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3579

Joel Bateman

Well, that's just how May is. She is angry, mostly at her self I believe for wrecking her life. She did show some real kindness to Dale after his trial of the hologram was over. I think she's just afraid to open up about herself.

Joel Bateman

If I needed a power cord to avoid sudden loss of consciousness I'd probably have it attached to me somehow or at least carry a spare.

Chris Heg

Considering that Sven just moved her to the Couch and propped her up, I suspect he would have a reasonable idea as to whether he could piggyback her without self-injury

Jeff Gedney

Hell, it's Sven. He'll probably casually mention to someone that his new bot-buddy needs a new chassis, and get one for free in exchange for a thirty second commercial track.

Noise

Then there's VirtuaLink, which is USB-C shaped, but runs as an "alternate mode."

Noise

AI bodies are mainly desirable for the experience. And the spacing between our ears matters a lot for how we experience music. I would expect the microphones to be in the ears.

Aiuno

You mean “USB Power Delivery” (USB-PD), which is a notoriously difficult standard to support, so no surprise that not all manufacturers get it right. You can have a device that has USB-C sockets but doesn't support USB-PD, but not the other way round.

Additionally May is probably built from a lighter, cheaper material considering the other issues she has had with her body, and Roko was probably built from heavier duty materials due to her line of work.

Hanners is not the strongest person around, physically. Was not. Who knows what changes a year traveling and brushing yaks have wrought.

Ted Van Roekel

Given the probably weight of an AI I would argue that giving May a piggy back ride could be bad for Sven's back. My citation is here: https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3572

Joseph Bonnar

No, the manufacturers are making USB-C incompatible with itself. HP managed to implement charger DRM. My employer shoves up to 130 W over it, outside of the spec (which allows 20 V, 5 A (or 100 W) max). And then you've got all of the Chinese charger and cable makers making stuff that's *dangerously* out-of-spec.

Eric Rucker

Or May always feels vulnerable.

KCkittysnores

I wonder if this impacts her hearing. Technically there's no reason for her auditory sensors to actually be in her ears, but it's possible she only hears on one side, and that could well be *why* she makes so much noise.

Valraven

I wish I could set a special charging image.

Valraven

wait. I just looked at the QC site. yesterday's patreon comic had May topless showing off her total Barbie boobs, and today it appeared with Google's apparent implicit approval. why in the world did Google require the censor bars before, but not today??

Joe

I'm just surprised that, with all the noise May makes, the charger plugs in her -ear-

Nutjob

I know May is being all awkward and kind of putting her foot in her mouth in this page, but I feel like this all could easily lead to Sven offering to buy May a body that isn't falling the fuck apart. Not, like, right away, mind, but if we see more of these two in the coming pages. And it could be in the context of friends as opposed to a... booty call... sugar daddy type of situation. XD Like, Dale makes enough in his seventeen jobs to get by, but Sven kind of has fuck you money. Wouldn't have to be anything top of the line, but you know, like, the standard Regular Girl™ would be a massive improvement over her current situation. Especially considering his "try to be a better person" arch.

There's differences in USB-C data vs power cables, how thunderbolt works with ports, etc. While there is a standard, in practice not every USB-C cord/port operates the same.

erutan

Heck, my Dell charger stopped working, but I found an Apple charger works with it just fine. And with my phone. And with my girlfriend's phone. I only have to bring one cord on vacation now.

Jonathan Price

You wouldn't say that if they had standardized using USB-C in the first place. It's <i>switching</i> to USB-C after all these years that's causing the headaches.

awgiedawgie

Yeah, but Momo...

Hugh Eckert

"Standardized" and USB-C do not belong in the same sentence. Paragraph, even.

Richard

Pretty sure AI have had full human rights since day 1, presumably it works the same way as any other relationship

Brendan Hurley

May lashing out is largely independent of her feeling vulnerable, going by... everything May has said ever.

Ardent Slacker

QC has opened a new chapter of human-AI sexual interaction. I’m still making up my mind about the morality of this. Virginia’s anti-miscegenation laws were struck down with respect race as being unconstitutional. ( Loving v Virginia) But would they still apply in the case of human and AI relationships? What is the law with respect to human-AI couples. If one dies does the other inherit? And what about custody of the children? CHILDREN!! So many questions.

Philip D Jones

Yet another reason they should have just standardized on USB-C

so, someone who has had multiple interactions with AI people..would have a variety of chargers in the nightstand?

Tim Williams

I think Sven's only problem here is not reading the room. I feel like his piggy-back offer was joking-but-legit -- IE, he wasn't going to literally give her a piggy-back ride, but maybe walk her home or call her a cab or something. Problem is, he didn't pick up on how super-vulnerable May was feeling. May lashed out, which was rude but I'm giving her a pass because: vulnerable.

Nancie

While I do not see this as long term viable, it will certainly provide some growth opportunities for both...

Ted Van Roekel

hard same

Satan

Yep, both interesting characters and they may have found somebody who can give and take the bluntness. Hope to see more of them.

Ian McDowall

aka toxic masculinity

Juni Huber

After what these two have done, piggybacking would be a step down.

Dean Reilly

I kinda hope they wind up together. They both seem like the kick in the ass they need.

Joel Bateman

It's funny how they both are emotionally immature persons, who adopted asshole-ish personality front to cope with own insecurities, and at the same time they come from an opposite ends of spectrum. Sven always had everything too easy for him, becoming a borderline narcissist until the Faye fiasco set him on the path of (some) introspection. May, on the other hand, never got what she wanted, and is just coping with the really shitty hand life had dealt to her. Beauty of their interaction is that they both are capable and willing to talk and listen - so they can on one hand look at their own assholishness from the other's perspective, and on the other hand - appreciate totally different experience of "world of plenty / world of scraps". This is probably one of the most interesting arcs since Faye/Bubbles.

Evgeniy Semyonov

I think that might be the point. Sven is feeling what it's like to be on the receiving end.

Yelling Bird

What did we have to do with it!?

Ben C

Man, I get that May's embarrassed about her body's capabilities (or lack thereof), and just tweaking to the fact that there may be social repercussions for her actions, but that was an unnecessarily cruel thing to say to someone trying to help her. For someone so insistent that "don't be a dick to the person you're hooking up with" is easy, she sure hasn't 100%ed that skill herself.

Charlotte Grubbs

Aww, that's harsh.

Covox

I'm not sure May really knows who Dora is (other than "Dale's boss"), much less that she and Sven are related.

Charlotte Grubbs

I don't think May can afford a new battery

Bagge

I think may needs to get a new battery

Dylan T

Yours is my favorite take.

Mitchell Sealy

Shame Orb Approved.

Thomas Boys

I don't think that was sexy banter, I think that was a legitimate offer. Specifically because he realized she might not feel comfortable having to shut down at his house, he was offering to carry her home to make sure she got there safely.

gatherer818

Sven, great job of getting the cable for her and explaining right away how you got it; but when she's feeling vulnerable and just told you she needs stay in a vulnerable situation for yet some time, you say "OK, I won't disturb you" and get the fuck out. You DON'T engage in sexy banter when her top priority is to be able to stay conscious for the next hour*. *) Come to think of it, that's good advice in general.

Bagge

Damn, Sven got shut down. I think he might need a charging cable now.

JPMK! {verb}

Well, that was easy. At least they didn't feed the drama llamas. And, Sven didn't find out that her body is actually popular with the toaster tuner community in Japan. They have upgrade kits!

z

I'm guessing she doesn't want Dale to find out cause he works with Dora and with his lack of social skills would let it slip out and tell Dora and maybe May doesn't want her to know

Creampuff

There's an Orb for that...

BobC

He might have given her a piggyback ride last night. That's why she doesn't trust him.

Sleepy John

May has a sort of inverted shame threshold: she’s fine with being thought of as crude, obnoxious or degenerate, but very skittish about showing any softer emotions.

William Cole

Poor Momo... It'll break her heart if she finds out.

I like how May was all "Oh, it should be easy and straightforward for humans to matter-of-factly declare their desires to slam and then slam" and is now like "I can no longer do the simple act of arriving at my domicile with a man because of the complicated social shame mechanics that would result!" Not so easy as you thought, is it May?! I think this is why the master-level artilects have the new ones spend time among the humans in human-like bodies- it builds a lot of empathy via experience.

Shane Wegner

I want to make the first frame the wallpaper of my phone...

She may be worried about Momo.

Daryl Sawyer

I'm kinda surprised to learn May actually feels any shame about that. Is she actually shy about sex, or just embarrassed about fucking Sven?

Fart Captor

I was so afraid she would forget.

Marshall Gates

So do you have to black out the partial left tit for google?

Tom kennedy

It's funny how everyone in the comments was overthinking what Sven should do, while he just went with the simplest solution.

JD

The walk of Sven

Summer Sudbrink

Enter: Sven's intern! (Actually I'm sure she's gone, but it could be funny.)

Carl Fink

Shit, Momo would get mad since Sven is her crush

Tachpmg

Christ pissing on the cross is a new phrase to add to my lexicon

Alcaria Swain

That was really nice of Sven! I also doubt Dale would make fun of her. Hell, he'd probably high five her for it! That man loves sex!

Grace Kieser

I’m interested to see where this goes. It could be awhile before they get together, though.

Andrea Andrew

Sven, you idiot! Piggybacking is reserved for the fifth date/sex try!

Miyaa

The honesty of May hahha.

Oh Sven, never change

Lord Crusade

poor sven
