Will She?

This took a turn

Will She?

Comments

Either way, I kinda think the crazy good job offers you get as a writer of erotica usually allow you to work from home

Bagge

I think everyone forgets the shop has a back door lol.

Michele Williams

Neither did Dora!

Bagge

So does the witchy dagger play any role in Dora's reply?

Bruce Steinberg

And banged. Don't forget the banging.

Bruce Steinberg

holy shit!! I just gasped aloud. I did NOT see that last panel coming. Jeph, you magnificent basterd!!

Joe

AAAAHHHH

Leona

Marten's not going to catch that commitment virus

SpookyPenguin

Claire. Must be Claire.

Sappy, I know, but I do love Tai just the most. :)

Gary Walker

Wait... wait, wait, wait, wait. If Dora marries - WHO WILL BE THE FLOWER GIRL? SHE CAN'T BE THE FLOWER GIRL OF HER OWN WEDDING?

Bagge

Somehow I don't think this made Marten LESS anxious about things. Also: SQUEEEEEEEE!

Bagge

I differ. Dora just casually dropped the most breathtaking avowal of love imaginable into Tai's lap, as if it were obvious, as if it were so much part of her life that she couldn't imagine that it wasn't visible to everyone else. She put her whole heart and mind into making that shop, and she just said that it as nothing compared to Tai. That is not merely an expression of an emotional state. It tells you important things about the sort of person Dora is. You don't get many chances at someone who is both hard-working and conscientious, and who is ready to set the consequences of that conscientious hard work aside for love. She is a prize, a treasure, a jewel beyond price, and Tai is quick-witted to see this and brave to act immediately on what she sees. This is how people should live. I, mean, hell, if it turns out that they can't live together, they can keep their apartments. Marriage is apt and cheerful conversation between hearts, not a living arrangement.

I have no sense of the passage of time in QC world, but this makes me think less of Tai. I mean, we knew she's a bit impulsive, but this is a LOT. Have Dora and Tai been dating for, like, at least a couple years? Also I don't think they had moved in together? I would not recommend marrying somebody until after you've figured out whether cohabiting works for you. :-/

Auros Harman

WHAT

Brian

AND THEN THEY ALL CONSUMMATED

Trigon Manthree

When a reader deigns to tell the creator about the creation, is that called fansplaining?

Trigon Manthree

And like an RKO...outta nowhere!

Everett Bradshaw

...but holy shit! Tai is pretty straightforward and this is completely a thing she would do. Next strip: Steve eating cereal, then we cut to a week of Hannelore in the outback or something.

Neil Fein

Now that's the Marten I remember!

Neil Fein

Corresponding to 6 months in universe maybe?

Mark

Ohmigod Ahhhhh! Hearts eyes for DAYS.

HOLY SHIT.

Charlie Sutton

Thank GOD tomorrow is another comic day!

Jan Gampe

Does no one else find it a little ominous that Dora literally said “It’s just a business. I can rebuild it.” And the shop can easily overhear her?

Summer Sudbrink

And then everyone got married.

Luzahn

No, Martin's dad and husband were the first to get engaged and married on the strip.

Ted Van Roekel

He has to gather raw material for his best man speech!

Dean Reilly

WELL SHIT I DIDN’T REALIZE I COULD SMILE THIS WIDE

EnterTheHero

WELL I guess I was wrong when I thought this week would be a bummer 😅

capnsoapy

OH MY GOD

Clifton Royston

OH OKAY THAT ESCALATED

Dylan T

And this would be the first for main characters. I can feel the Claire squees a'comin, at least once she gets free of exam fog enough to realize what's going on.

Michele Williams

Sniffing teacups comes next...

BobC

Oh my god it's been like seven years since you got these two together, where does the time go

Seth Aaron Hershman has they she pronouns

It wouldn't need to be every potential. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk in a broad fashion about their expectations for the future, and what changes each is willing to make for the other.

awgiedawgie

This rollercoaster is too intense! I'm more of a spinning teacups kind of guy

Thomas Halpin

OH-KAY!

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

Tune in for the next episode! But first, a lengthy recap of what's been going on in the rest of the QC-verse...

BobC

Will the Tie Fighter go down in flames? Will Dora get even witchier? Will Claire be glad her drama is now the minor one? What will Faye say? Will Bubbles be effervescent? WILL HANNELORE BE A BRIDESMAID? Will Meiville throw a hissy-fit? Will Marten get a clue? Please?

BobC

YEAH NOW WE'RE TALKIN' GET OUTTA HERE MARTIN

A sheep

SAY YES, DAMMIT.

Celine Chamberlin

Why does it feel like a lot of plot threads are coming together at once? Scary!

TMN

Just because they might be getting married doesn't mean they're being shunted off to minor character ville. I mean Tai hasn't even been offered a new job, she was just trying to make a point which ended up leading the day in a direction she had so not been expecting it to five minutes ago.

Dahlia Rose Israel

Squee!

I thought we were going to see Martin and Claire "ride off into the sunset" and become minor characters. Maybe it's Tai and Dora? Claire takes over as one of the "LIBRARIANS" at Smif, Tai gets a gig down in NYC writing for a LGBTQ drama series and Dora opens a new shop in Greenpoint. Jim (from Secret bakery) buys the coffee shop for its supply of spider coffee and an outlet for his baked goods and renames it "I've got a secret too". I'm pretty done with Martin to be honest.

Jim Feldman

WELP.

Samantha Yeaman

And, poor Marten. He's been doing a good job being supportive of Claire, and then Dora goes and drops an anxiety bomb on him... and the proposal short-circuited the conversation and leaves him to stew on it.

Hugh Eckert

Well, that was unexpected. And adorable.

Hugh Eckert

He's going to go hide behind Bubbles' chair.

Hugh Eckert

Claire says Marten has a job most people with her degree would kill for. If anything he should be putting in a good word for her here.

Mitchell Sealy

Don't go to the spider room Martin!

Kinda Squirrely

It’s been a while since the last wedding.

Populuxe

Marten, in case you missed it with everything else happening, Dora just gave you some good advice. You may have seniority at the library over everyone but Tai, but you're still just a lowly library assistant. If Claire gets a good job offer elsewhere, you quit your job and go with her. Love is more important. And as long as the library that hires her doesn't have a strict no-fraternization policy, you could probably get a job there based on your experience and level of responsibility at Smif.

awgiedawgie

XD "Marten that's not where the door is."

Kyle Jenkins

My gob, it is smacked.

Sleepy John

OH, good LORD! Ian! The basement has GOT to be Melon's studio! Why did we not see this before?

No, no, Marten. You need to get your phone and get video, get pictures, the whole 9 yards here so you can extort a small fortune when the two realize what you have!

wjhlkjvwalkjvadslkvbwkljv

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Alcaria Swain

I still say they can talk about it when they get there. They've probably got better uses for their time and energy than discussing at length every potential hypothetical and what that could one day mean for their relationship if it ever actually happened.

Mitchell Sealy

as a 30something, one of my cousins is on her 3rd husband.

Kilonum

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! 😍😍😍

Rosilin

Waaiiitt QC don’t become me watching my drawn friends getting married right before I get to the point where I’ll be watching all my actual friends getting married ahaha

You must be new here... (;

Grace Kieser

Meanwhile Marten is kicking it in the basement with the spiders like "it's less awkward for me down here." Melon is probably there too.

Mordaeus

Get ready to swear!

Grace Kieser

That is one serious way of diverting drama

MikeT

You can tell by Tai's stammering and Dora's face that this is in fact a serious proposal. Doesn't mean that they won't immediately decide that it's a bad idea, but she's definitely not joking.

JD

ahahahahaaaaahahahaahaahaha yes good (dora's gonna be so mad if that proposal turns out to be a joke)

neato

That may not be the front door, but there's a back door and a bathroom in that direction of the shop.

Nicholas Lopez

*yelp* I think I just experienced storyarc whiplash. ow ow ow...

Holly Nelson

Wtf! Lol

red sands

This has been the kind of day where everything happens unexpectedly. I’m going to need some wine now.

Miyaa

Each of them is better and more lovable than the other.

Nope. Thursday comic followed by segue to Steve followed by guest strip week. CALLING IT NOW

Tim Eldred

Awwww!

Mike de Jong

On my gosh

Diptych

If you cut to Steve eating cereal, I swear...

MsMythchief

Oh my gox

Diptych

I must know if this is serious or one of those praposal jokes you sometimes see in various media.

Ryan X

I thought for sure that the next (first?) engagement would be between Marten's mother and Sam's dad.

JD

Writing's been on the wall, but goddammit TIMING!

Tim Eldred

Could be worse hanging wise. He could have done this on a Friday.

Scott Vogel

...shit HE'S PLANNING TO

R L

JEPH YOU (MAGNIFICENT) BASTARD, DON'T LEAVE US HANGING!

Tim Eldred

OMG!!! WTF?!

Lord Crusade

Wow, this is probably the last direction I saw this going in.

JD

WHAT

Ray Cornwall

...I expected this? I think? I mean, sooner or later, but still.

R L

HOLY SHIT
