Bread Boy

I'm not sure we had met Claire yet when Momo got her new body. Also too lazy (or rather too tired) to look it up.

awgiedawgie

this is strangely relatable as I'm super going through this rn and I don't really recognize my own face from day to day =( oddly enough, not from anything in particular (though I did have a bout with some kind of infection that swelled up my face, that might have skewed things)

Minzoku Bokumetsu

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t from bouncer training. Part of being a bouncer would be talking to people and calming them down, before physical intervention is necessary.

Thisguy

And scooter repair for VespaBot.

Probably a superhero too. Backup for Pizza Girl and Chinese Delivery Man.

Captain Button

bouncer, baker, AND trained intervention counselor??

Joe

Dysmorphia sucks! :(

Kriss Pang

I like Roko's hair in this, even if she's a hot mess atm.

Kuragari

I was wondering if she had said anything related when Winslow got his new body, but I'm not finding anything. I do remember she chewed out Pintsize for saying something about how technology will fix it someday. Too lazy to look and see if she commented on Momo's body switch.

Captain Button

very good, Melon! we knew you could do it!

Matt

Gods that last panel is just perfect.

Hugh Eckert

Please don't ruin math with ketchup.

Eric Sieck

Melon is the friendly puppy who sees the people walking, and runs over to stand directly in front of them so she can have fun too!

Sleepy John

Melon... Stahp...

Mordaeus

I wonder if Claire could help or relate to Roko, as it stands, Roko seems to be suffering a type of bodily dysphoria, she feels as though her body is not her own, though the way it's come about has sort of appeared in reverse to how gender dysphoria would manifest,

lin sanderson

Melon is Roko's sanity check ... if whatever Melon says or does sounds sane, then Roko isn't.

Bill Hall

If Elliot doesn't volunteer for a phone crisis center he really should holy s*** Man I have totally had the same feeling as roko there and this really captured it well

Diana

... now with more integers!

Dave

My new head canon is that Elliot volunteers for a phone crisis center.

Nancie

That it's helping Roko as well is even better!

Mark

Now all I can picture is the scene from Ghost but with dough.

Andrew

The speech bubble when Roko and Elliot are counting together. Square on the left side; round on the right side. Tiny little detail, but evocative of the moment. Wouldn't even need the pair of "who's talking" arrows to make it clear they were completely synced. Just beautiful.

Jason Zions

Or possibly it wasn't locked.

Brooks Moses

I LOVE ELLIOT SO MUCH, HE MUST BE CHERISHED AND PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS

JD

One Math please, extra ketchup.

Kinda Squirrely

You're a kinder human than I am. But I don't have any enemies now, thank the good lord. Last one petered out 11 months ago. :)

I’ve really enjoyed the last few comics, and especially this arc. For all it’s comedy and butt jokes, QC does touch on some interesting issues. And while Elliot has the right idea, Melon’s random actions seem to have a similar effect on Roko. Roko is lucky to have these two.

Thisguy

I was wondering where he would have learned that. You make a good point.

Lisa

god i love him. such a sweet heart

runrin

The fact that Roko is still playing the big sister to Melon is super adorable!!

Shawn K. Younkin

Really happy that Elliot and Melon just happened to be around when poor Roko was breaking down, so she Didn't just go ahead and use that peeler on her face ..

Lars Gottlieb

This is likely just the beginning of her journey. Anxiety, dysmorphia and the like are more about managing attacks. With people you can medicate the symptoms, to an extent. I have no idea how this will work for an AI.

Grace Kieser

This happens at semi-regular intervals at Eliot's job, right?

Bagge

Did Elliot have to "open" the door (as in losing the deposit) or did Roko open it? It almost feels like there's a spectrum here with Melon at one end and Elliot at the other and poor Roko in the the middle trying to understand what happened.

Jim Feldman

I haven't noticed any difference, which doesn't mean that there isn't - and, as someone whose wife has suffered from body dysmorphia for her entire life (we called it fun-house eyes), it doesn't matter. It could be a micrometer-precise duplicate of her old face, and still cause her to not see it as hers. It's in the brain, not the eyes. She knows she's in a new body, so she knows it's not the old body - so to her, it won't look like the old body.

Buck Caldwell

Is this the end of Loco Roko's problems? Or is this merely a brief interlude of relative sanity? Will she enter infinite recursion again? Stay tuned for the Next Four Panels!

BobC

Aaaaand ship.

R L

I love Elliott so much here. And Melon, really. And Roko's tired face and waggly reassuring fingers in the last panel are perfect.

Katrina Urmson

Genuine question: do you draw her slightly differently to make the changes she perceives potentially noticeable by us, or do you still draw her the same way? (Note that I'm not dismissing her feelings as a character, I'm just curious about your process!)

Antoine Leblanc

Same.

Katrina Urmson

Oh god that face Roko is making in the first panel is a face I understand so much and its a feeling I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies.

Dylan T

sadorable

MiqoRems

Elliot is just the nicest person.

Gary Walker

And in her own way, she's succeeding. She's still helping to distract Roko from her crisis.

awgiedawgie

I love them all 😢

Fart Captor

I am falling for Elliott so hard right now

Jono Hayward

She tries

Brian

I'm starting to ship Roko and Elliott. The man knows how to handle her anxiety like a pro. And he'd constantly smell like bread! Win-win.

Samantha Yeaman

This is adorable, yet sad. Adorably sad? Hm.

Nicholas Lopez

Rokooooooooo :-(

David Jackson

I am so glad Elliott is handling this in a good way. He's god a good brain, him do.

Buck Caldwell

Holy crap but this is an amazingly well-written comic.

Populuxe

Melon's trying... and it's adorable

Kyle Jenkins

Oh, Melon, sweet Melon, just... just no.
