In fact, sometimes it would be nice to have the world rendered as wireframe illustrations, labels, and text blocks. There is a guy in an old Joanna Russ sf novel who has a helmet that does something like that. It always sounded good to me. The two times it would be useful would be around people with low signal to noise ratios, and around charming, attractive people who you were trying to evaluate for something other than charm and attractiveness. Come to think of it, it would also be useful around unpleasant, ugly people who you were trying to evaluate for something other than charm and attractiveness.
