My grandmother collected clocks. Lots of them, ticking, ticking. The top of the hour could be pretty intense, especially at 11 and 12. I think this is spot on.

One of my biggest pet peeves is clocks with second hands that don't land on a tickmark when they tock. I had jury duty a couple of years ago and the clock's second hand kept persistently landing about 2/3 of the way from one tick to the next, every single tock, both on the downswing and the upswing. I felt like I needed medicating by the end of the day.
