The approach actually made school easier for me in every way. My confidence increased, and I felt more in control. I also had more free time I could count on, so I joined two research projects, on one of which I was the only undergrad.
The other major factor for me was study groups, separate from TA sessions and office hours. Struggling with peers lessens the struggle and increases perseverance. It also provides social connections and a support system. Without them, I would have crashed and burned during my Freshman year. And even as I became a better student, and added a job and research commitments, staying connected with my study groups was always a top priority.

Emotional injury is her style I think, given what she did to Pintsize.

Nah, Claire isn't the type to kill. The type to leave with permanent and crippling injury (physical or emotional)? That sounds more probable! =P

Clinton once again proves that he also knows how to be a bratty kid brother forwards and backwards!

They are not twins. Clinton is ... 3 years older? I think?

Tread carefully, Clinton. Claire is old enough to have more years of embarrassing stories about you than you have memories.

Just as seriously, but not more seriously. (I have a teenager; it’s an important distinction. ;) )

My greatest "wisdom" in college came when I stopped sweating the big exams. I learned to make every day count, rather than let things pile up until an exam forced the dam to break. Flow, rather than furious storms.
Most important was learning when to stop. To take the day off before the biggest exams to rest and regenerate. To have only a 30-minute "top up" review right before taking the test. To know my weak areas, and manage my test time to let me work longer on those questions.
When I took a job as a tutor and lab proctor to cover tuition, I got to share my approach with hundreds of students. They not only succeeded, but I was the only undergraduate TA to be rated among the best grad student TAs and professors that year.
All because of what one student named "Daily Mastery": The best time to study was right after class. Do homework sooner rather than later. View quizzes more as feedback on your *process*, not scores of your *progress*. Treat "rest & recreation" as another class, to be taken just as seriously.

Claire found her zen through good bread and bad dog puns. I'm pretty sure this is the secret to a happy life.
