The Real Action

oh hi

The Real Action

Comments

Good read, just shared it on FB.

Gregory Norris

THEY JUST HAD SOME HEART WARMING SHIT AND OPENED UP TO LAYER OF EMOTIONAL VUNERABILITY THEY HAD NOT HAD PREVIOUSLY and with Faye and bubs that lead to. Stuff.

Stoodmuffin

I mean I comment mostly with fantasy and wish fulfillment but she would be demi? Only attracted to those with emotional connections. Or ace but pan romantic. Idk. I find I get I to ship fever with sometime unintentionaly erasing aro folks or not really appreciating the characters orientation. Which can be not cool, I want people to respect mine so I need to consider it properly. I FOR SURE know I see chemistry at times when there isn't and get friemistry, sexistry, and romantistry mixed up. Even IRL. Trying to be more aware of that.

Stoodmuffin

@Ben Russell-Gough That's true; I think I am referring back to some chatter in the forum back when May asked Faye for Bubbles "nudes" if she ever took her armor off though.

Laura-Kathleen Redman

Does anyone in the QC universe except for Jim have basic kitchen skills? Also, you would think Momo would have a rice cooker...

MA Caiti

True. Same principle. I think it stays chewier with the long cold soak/shorter cooking time from the rice cooker but slow cooker works well. Same ingredients, put on lowest setting when you go to bed, eat in the morning.

Gary Walker

You can also make steel-cut oatmeal in a crock pot overnight.

Sue N

Good point, I hadn't considered stir-frying. Pan with very hot oil!

Patrick Jackson

Oh yes. 1 part steel cut oats, 4 parts water, pinch of salt. Use the porridge setting.

Gary Walker

wait, you can DO that?!?

Satan

Yeah, trying to make Fried rice at home involved the fire department ....

Jason Ayres

*sigh* When you try to tell a joke and the response is cooking instructions, it might well be time to go back to comedy class....

As I suspected. However, there are other comments that indicate that "Noodle Incident" confused some people. Hence the link to the original reference.

@Laura-Kathleen, May has never shown romantic interest or even lust towards anyone, only a malicious and disbelieving glee on observing human sexual behaviour and those synthetics that, in some manner, reflect it. So, if I were asked to specify, I'd say she's asexual in human terms. We've never seen her open up enough to any other fellow synthetic to see if she's attracted to them in any way but I'm not sure if we'd automatically recognise how one non-human sapient would express attraction to another and what might trigger that.

Ben Russell-Gough

I was. <a href="https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DontExplainTheJoke" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DontExplainTheJoke</a>

Elliot is bi, May is ??? but I think I have seen references to May either being lesbian or bi... Maybe Roko is either pansexual or ryesexual. #breadpuns

Calvin: "No One can prove I did that!"

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

For anybody who doesn't know about NOODLE INCIDENT (TM), (I'm assuming Hakan was joking), See <a href="https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/NoodleIncident/CalvinAndHobbes" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/NoodleIncident/CalvinAndHobbes</a>

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

What is this Noodle Incident you speak of?

Leave the pizza stone in the oven too. It might take a little longer for the oven to get up to temperature, but it will hold a more even temp overall during actual cooking.

Mooster

Please allow us all to imagine the rice incident without ever clearing up what was actually going on.

Cleo Schmitz

Given that Momo has pretty much instant access to information inside her head (even something as banal as googling "how to cook rice"), she must not have been around to assist, just the aftermath. Please allow tomorrow's comic to be exactly what happened, Jeph. You got us all intrigued...

David Paul

Well, its a long tale, but basically... i'm clumsy.

Rudolph Gerber

How can rice go so wrong?!?

Patrick Jackson

Unless Roko comes home to find Elliot letting himself into the apartment building with a bag of freshly-baked bread.

Ben Russell-Gough

@Hakan Konig - A Noodle Incident is vast and can embrace all manners of staple foods!

Ben Russell-Gough

There's nothing like staring a blazing death in the face to teach you the commonalities you share with your organic counterparts!

Ben Russell-Gough

Are you SURE that you were making rice and not noodles, guys?

Ben Russell-Gough

Technically, we don't know that the noodle incident was about noodles, either. For all we know, it was rice, too.

awgiedawgie

THIS SHIP WILL HAPPEN

Stoodmuffin

Um, yeah. But it wasn't ONLY the destroyed stove... I wound up with burns on both hands that put me in the hospital... Don't ask. Just... HOT HOT BURN BURN!

How can it be a NOODLE incident when they were cooking RICE?

Invest in a pizza stone. A cheap one at Walmart works fine. Makes a huge difference in how a frozen pizza comes out.

Tom B

Just in case Jeph is taking votes: This NEEDS to stay a Noodle Incident (TM)

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

FOOLS, just order takeout

Bagge

Ship ship ship ship ship

Dahlia Rose Israel

Honestly I hope she does get it fixed, like I'm fine with the characters having short hair but I'd prefer if at least a few kept it long, for the sake of variety and all.

I bet it wasn't the toaster's fault: <a href="http://www.davebarry.com/misccol/poptarts.htm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.davebarry.com/misccol/poptarts.htm</a>

Josh Dick

I managed to set a pair of Pop Tarts on fire while toasting them. Pretty sure that was a defective toaster though.

William Cole

Dammit, now I'm worried about the oatmeal in my rice cooker.

Gary Walker

This is reminding me of Homer Simpson making a bowl of cereal burst into flames.

Will Weaver

Please, nobody ask me about the first time I tried to cook a frozen pizza... (Who knew it was supposed to go on a cookie sheet? Geesh...)

How could these nitwits not think to invest in a rice cooker?? smh.

TMN

Oh, I don't know. It's not like they literally put a can of beanie-weenies on the stove and left it for fifteen minutes while they went to go watch cartoons or something, and then it exploded all over the ceiling. And yes, I actually did that .... once upon a time.

Brad Knowles

O_o How the frell do you screw up rice?! It's like one step above boiling water, ffs!

Ian Wolfe

It just occurred to me this is the most elaborate way for Jeph to have another female character with short hair! Providing Momo doesn't get it fixed...

Grace Kieser

You'd think so. But rice is a very fine art. Just enough rice, just enough water, done in just the right way. And let's face it, Dale is easily distracted and Marigold prefers junk food over actually cooking.

For beating me to this, you have earned my undying enmity. But as a fellow punster, +1 to you, dammit.

BobC

Rice Rice Baby!

Chris Gallaty

Well, at least Momo put out the fire, so May doesn't have any fires to put out.

Buck Caldwell

Next, let's see what happened from the perspective of the rice cooker...

Breadless Wonder

Momo looks much more human now

Bernhard

Gotta be Dale’s ... I think.

Matt Grayson

The rice..... didn't make it.

Kyle Major

Ok dumb question but is that Marigolds/Momo's apartment? Because if that is the case then why does May have a key? Those two finally living together

Kevin

Momo’s hair got burned. That can’t possibly smell good.

Nikki

You'd think for as much Dale and Marigold are weebs, they'd know how to cook rice.

Grace Kieser

Now we get to see how Momo’s hair is fixed. Bubbles is getting good with those scissors 😎

Matt Grayson

And is Momo missing some hair? Yikes! Although Momo with a punk cut.... &lt;3

Ted Van Roekel

That last panel is more relatable than is care to admit to

Erin Moriarty

They tried the pressure cooker method, didn't they?

Ted Van Roekel

“GDI… Next time, just order carry out!”

Miyaa

Lol
