Hang In There

ayyyyyy

EDIT: updated the comic to make it a little clearer!

Hang In There

Comments

I know, it took me a long time to make that break.

Chris Heg

I actually liked the earlier version, with the translucent overlays, in the Patreon email. I suppose if it was confusing readers, then it makes sense to go to a more conventional comic version, but I liked the more experimental visual language.

Ross

Easy to say. Hard to do when it's the only life you know now.

David Paul

Ah. I was wondering why there was no comic on today's page. I could delete my QC RSS, but it reminds me to come to Patreon.

Mark

FYI, boss, this appears to have ended up on the site as number 3636 instead of 3836, overwriting a comic in the middle of the arc with Tilly and screwing up navigation. Thought you should know.

gatherer818

Holly, that is an awesome font! Thank you!

Craig Parks

You're right, of course. I was just trying to set up the image of B armed with bread and tea.

Matt Grayson

Eh, she just acknowledged that Bubbles was being kept as a slave in her own jurisdiction and that she'd been powerless to help her. I can't see her picking a fight with someone only recently liberated from slavery.

Diptych

I think she *is* feeling vindictive and will pick a fight with Bubbles over the trash can incident. Bubbles, master of all weapons, will defend herself with a loaf of Sourdough and a mug of Assam tea.

Matt Grayson

Daaaang. https://www.1001fonts.com/vindictive-brk-font.html

Holly Nelson

Originally, the “vindictive type” thought bubble was a montage of her face and the words overlapping translucently.

Holly Nelson

I didn't think the original looked unclear.

awgiedawgie

I dunno; not to get conspiratorial, but cops have established methods of dealing with overly-conscientious would-be reformers.

Diptych

Dental plan!

Alex Thompson

Lisa needs braces!

Dolan

So long dental plan

Ami

I’ve heard of helvitica type and San serifs type but what does vindictive type look like?

Craig Parks

What was the edit? I don't notice anything different.

P

If your job is making you hate yourself you should probably leave. Just sayin'

Chris Heg

So... what type IS she?

Sleepy John

Okay, cool, but speakin' from experience, making a dumb impulsive decision also starts with that exclamation ...

Peter Jensen

"Luuuke... Use the Force Luke! Let go!" "What? Damn it, wrong character's flashback!"

Ben Russell-Gough

I have no idea where this is going.

Chris Crowther

The problem is people like her are one of the few ways the system could get better.

Matthew Foweraker

Just think of a baguette.

jeff fearnow

Or, she recognises that her own lack of vindictiveness was the only thing stopping her from doing something unethical to Mae, because cops have power that they shouldn't.

Diptych

Yep... I’ve had that exact moment after hearing “you should just quit”

Or, as we found out, the talking toilet paper dispenser.

Ben Russell-Gough

You know what would I like to know? I'd like to know what triggered this response in Roko. What was she seeing on that screen that is making her feel that she's being asked to be vindictive?

Ben Russell-Gough

I guess, when it comes down to it, *I* was Roko's Basilisk..... ;P

Anna Phylaxis

Nice touch with the input cables instead of the keyboard

Bagge

She wishes it was a raccoon.

BobC

Well maybe not in that sense.

Miyaa

Vindictive. She sees being a police officer as needing to be "vindictive", because cops are supposed to "go after" the bad guys with ill humor.

Joseph Houk

I need sleep. At first I thought that was another cop at the next desk with the same chassis. Now I'm wondering how often that happens...

Jessie Cook

"Officer Basilisk, you are fined one credit for a violation of the verbal morality statute"

Andrew

If I remember right, his name's O'Malley!

Grace Kieser

Is that poster in the background Chiyo-chan’s Father?

Populuxe

It's gonna make sense tomorrow. For now? Puzzld af

R L

I'm puzzled too. Maybe it disturbs her how much power she would have to mess with May if she were inclined to do so?

Adam Friedlander

Oh, I hope this doesn't mean Basilisk is going to fuck over May...

Krista Elliott

Oh cop bot not this day

Kyle Major

Not sure why that phrase triggered that response in her

David Rivette

Good for you Roko!

Lord Crusade

Something's snapped there. And I think it's her attitude about the job.
