Hijacked Conversation

Agh I forgot to post Saturday's patreon update! I'm so sorry :(

Did I miss #3831?

Mason Williams

Probably because she’s an abrasive person. This isn’t so much about the crime as it is her attitude.

Brent Catherman

Looks like he fixed it... :)

Daryk Zirkle

Andrew: Bonus crimes should TOTALLY be a thing

Bagge

Okay. So it's not just me. I had to go to the website to read it. I was so confused.

Mordaeus

Doesn't look like it

MisterNormie

Did #3831 not get posted to the Patreon?

Mordaeus

Yeah..... And?

awgiedawgie

Don't count on it. Have you any idea how many typos have not been corrected in the strips over the years? (I don't have any idea either - I didn't bother to count them) I like to think of it as an occasional reminder that there is an actual <i>human</i> drawing the comics.

awgiedawgie

Roko working in a bakery could result in serious sensory overload.

awgiedawgie

<i>Why</i> is May not that person? Because she's an ex-con and Roko's a cop? She has demonstrated in the past that she can be kind and even helpful when someone needs a sounding board.

awgiedawgie

Yas!

Miyaa

I really feel bad for Roko. She needs someone to share this stuff with. May is not that person.

Unanimous D

She is an embittered wannabe fighter jet with god-tier forensic accounting skills! She is a lonely bread-lusting beat cop with an urge to make a difference! Together they FIGHT CRIME!

Ben Russell-Gough

Crazy thought: what if this leads May to join the police force in some expertise area, like how they might have really good counterfeiting guys work as their counterfeiting expert or really good hackers join the good guys? This also would be the closest May could get to her original dream of being apart of the military like Bubbles was.

Miyaa

Yup, this

Lars Gottlieb

Oh, fuck my life. It was a perfectly good theory, too.

She said parole points, actually...

Seth Aaron Hershman has they she pronouns

Please post the patreon updates, even if they're late! I rely on them to read the comic, since the RSS is so delayed. I didn't initially realize there was a comic between the last update and this one.

Colton Myers (@basepi)

There is a disturbing image.

Captain Button

I think that there's a queue of people waiting to give Roko a hug so can May please get out of the way?

Ben Russell-Gough

Jeph, don't worry about missing Saturday, but I tend to read QC exclusively in my mailbox now, so if you miss any in the future, can you post them here anyway? I acceidentally read these out of order, because I didnt see your note till I read the comic :(

You might want to fix the typo in panel two before posting to the site ("enalaved" vs. "enslaved").

Daryk Zirkle

Pretending not to care is sort of a May thing <a href="https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3686" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3686</a> and Pintsize too of course <a href="https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3768" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3768</a>

Mark

Bonus parole points can only be redeemed on bonus crimes - like getting a parking ticket while robbing a bank!

Andrew

Not yet; first she has to lead Roko to some manner of beneficial conclusion, otherwise she's just being snarky.

Ben Russell-Gough

<a href="https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3831" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3831</a>

Ben Russell-Gough

I don't think so, myself. However, I can see May being the person that tells Roko some things that she needs to hear but most people feel constrained by her office from telling her.

Ben Russell-Gough

Yeah, it looks like the May arc was an introduction to a Roko arc. Will she quit the police and get a job at The Secret Bakery?

Ben Russell-Gough

Yay, Roko character development! I mean, beyond the whole baked goods thing.

Celine Chamberlin

Jeph, I only read QC on patreon now - can you link to the previous strip if you're not going to put it up here?

Liz

Real parole points or not, her face appears like she genuinely cares, even though she might not admit it. So she is probably earning some kind of bonus points with the local law enforcement officer, which can't hurt her in the parole department. And it's always better to have cops who are friends, rather than enemies.

awgiedawgie

The strip is up on the QC site.

awgiedawgie

Pretty sure Bubbles wouldn't mind. Getting some Faye-booty has really mellowed her out.

awgiedawgie

I think May has earned that bonus parole point

Bagge

I think she feels responsible because the robot fighting ring was her jurisdiction and she missed a whole lot of the details

Grace Kieser

Roko's being a little too hard on herself. All police officers are bound to the legal restrictions of their job. Perhaps she feels bad because she was originally targeting Bubbles and Faye in an effort to bring down the operation without realizing why Bubbles was compelled to work for her.

Brent Catherman

I’d been wondering about Roko's professional life. She might miss some crime, but she cannot be expected to enforce the law singlehanded — in a big community like hers, she should be just one cop in a much larger working group. Except for her burly AI drinking buddy, we haven’t seen them, but they must be around ... perhaps she and Burly are the only AI cops in town? And feel lonely because they’re supposed to magically nose out AI crime? In which case, her police department needs some waking up.

Holly Nelson

It's ok, nobody wants to be enalaved by grammar nazies.

mooviies

Pretty sure that's the one this post apologizes for, he forgot to post it.

gatherer818

Roko, there are limits to what anyone can do and it seemed to me that Corpse Witch had gone to a lot of trouble to protect herself by way of corruption. Stopping her was always going to be difficult for one junior cop to do alone against that sort of structure.

Ben Russell-Gough

Having missed the previous strip, I read this thinking Officer Roko was just having an argument with her tea induced vision

Ami

Oh, good! I was afraid you were visiting our North Carolina coast when the hurricane struck.

An interesting thought

Stoodmuffin

Would Roko have permission to sit in Bubble's chair, I wonder? Perhaps she commandeered it in the name of the law.

Chris Hewson

I was worried, I'm glad you're ok. :)

He lives!

Thisguy

I smell a cop x ex-convict shipping!

Miyaa

advdvsVsdv i cant spel

Jeph Jacques

Enalaved??? You mean Enslaved Jeph?

Hey Jeph, I think there's a typo in panel 2 - is that supposed to be 'enslaved'?

Samantha Yeaman

also typo. "Enalaved"
