DON'T BLOW THIS AMANDA

SHUSH AMANDA

Katherine Prewitt

HERE FOR THE SUBTLE FAYE BLUSHES

And yet somehow Amanda manages to hold in the *SNRK*, even at risk of blowing out her throat. ;)

Brad Knowles

*squeeing incoherently in delight*

I adore this comic.

Maurice Kessler

Because it happens. A lot. Sexuality is a spectrum and not everyone is stuck in one category. An example -- actress Kelly McGillis figured out in her 50's that she's a lesbian. She had been married a couple of times to men. And, sometimes, you just fall in love with the person and none of the other stuff matters. It doesn't have to happen with Faye, but if it does, it's really not a big deal. There are a fair number of people who simply identify as queer to avoid labels that put them into boxes for this very reason.

Celine Chamberlin

Careful about dropping a bomb, Evie - it might go yuri-nuclear.

Afunnythinghappedtome

Because ... that's a thing people sometimes suddenly discover about themselves? Being raised in the south probably helped subconsciously suppress the idea of being bi. Also, the whole AI/human thing kinda overshadows the gender situation. I don't think we've yet seen how the QC universe general society feels about that.

Peter Jensen

I expect this arc to end with Faye *not* getting romantic with Bubbles. She's had male lovers in the past; why should she suddenly discover she's bi or gay?

Ross

I'm not sure Evie is good. Maybe chaotic neutral.

Ross

Well, that officially makes Faye the densest object known to man - along with Castela from Wapsi Square...

Leak

Oooh now I need to reread that strip

Now that I read this again when I haven’t just watched a late-night college basketball game that went to overtime, that third to last panel with Faye is rather interesting. I wonder what’s going through her mind at that point. (Also, it sort reminds me of when Bubbles obliterated some punching bags...)

Will Weaver

Agreed, to me so far Faye has been expressing a close BFF bond which is great. And it is normal to feel jealous sharing that attention with future significant others. That doesn't indicate sexual attraction though, and I don't recall Faye hinting at that. It's fine if the ship does sail, but I hope they don't try to force it to be something that maybe it is not.

ZPX

I don't know if Jedi Mind Tricks work on Faye... or given the running Dune references, should that be The Voice?

Mark

This is just so damn delightful.

Sarah Manx

Error correction: 2nd panel: s/was/did/

Gary Walker

The brain will go to great lengths when it (you) can't accept a truth for some reason.

Clement Covemaeker

Or, you know, Faye will do damage do her.

Bagge

Amanda is going to do herself an injury at this rate.

Dean Reilly

Pintsize is recording all this. Terror shall ensue.

BobC

I actually admire Amanda's restraint in a way. She's giggling but it could be a lot worse. (Cue the next strip where it's a lot worse.)

Celine Chamberlin

Okay. I mean. I get it. Bein oblivious is possible. But Faye being THIS oblivious?

Stoodmuffin

I still maintain that this doesn't necessarily need to end up with them getting together. Not everybody's life needs to revolve around romantic relationships. Then again, I'm reading QC, so I know better.

A sign of a true relationship. Me thinks we'll be seeing these two get married one day. :3

Dahlia Rose Israel

I imagine it might be awkward if Faye's breakthrough is prompted by the same person who was so insensitivity analytical toward Bubbles.

Diptych

I'm sure "Pay no attention to Amanda" is a semi-recurring phrase in their relationship.

Bagge

Amanda choking on her laughter is cute, but I’m really into Intense Evie.

William Cole

DAMMIT, AMANDA! DON'T RUIN THIS FOR ME!

Don't you dare make this so awkward Evie that Bubbles feels the need to get away from it all because she's not used to expressing "feels"

Denise Webber

I really love Amanda in these strips, mainly because Jeph is doing such a splendid job with her facial expressions and body language. In this strip she's just SO CUTE!!!

Bagge

Hey, let the man have his fun!

Well her sister is oblivious to her feelings for a girl, speaking as a gay sister I'd be giggling in the same situation.

Dahlia Rose Israel

Alright finally a story line that made me pledge for early comics. I've been rooting for these two from jump

Corpus Callosum

Dammit Amanda!!!!

C'mon Amanda, your sister is opening up about a unique bond she's developed with a close friend because they'd both been through some traumatic loss! I want them to smooch too, but the giggling is kinda not cool!

Fart Captor

Jeph, these are so awesome! Thanks!

Chong Go

JEPH, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO US

JD

Depends who you're referring to! Faye certainly is, but her sister is trying not to explode.

Mordaeus

Well, remember, this is already Thursday.

Buck Caldwell

Is that a *blush*?

Origamigryphon

The comic could progress 3x faster if Evie was around all the time to make people sort out their feelings.

Erin Moriarty

Steve is behind Amanda and Evie, eating cereal, and is about to turn around and spoil the atmosphere by shouting, "I wear a wig now!"

Brendan Jones

I'm going to be extremely annoyed if this storyline doesn't end with Faye determining how she feels about Bubbles. Whether she decides she wants their relationship or platonic is fine with me, I just want her to decide one way or the other.

JD

What's Steve up to, anyway?

Jackson Bockus

I'm gonna guess now: Faye is gonna realize her feelings, but before she can tell Bubbles, Bubbles will be really upset about something and be cold and withdrawn. I'm guessing that Evie's intrusiveness will have something to do with it

I like how Evie is approaching this, although psychoanalysis as a plot device to stretch this out until Friday is a little weird.
