Despite being very different from us genetically, dogs are the result of at least 10,000 generations of humans actively selecting for individuals who exhibit characteristics compatible with human beings. Dogs may be more distant from us than the apes genetically, but behaviorally they are much more closely attuned to us. Dogs are, literally, the most human thing that isn't human. It makes sense, in that respect, for Faye to contemplate Bubbles this way.

YMMV, but my feelings about the comparison would depend on the other person's feelings about dogs. If they just see dogs as dumb animals people keep for entertainment, I'd be mad. But if - like me - they love dogs and think of them as the best friends it is possible to have, I would be flattered

Although I massively ship Bubbles & Faye .. am I the only one who feels uncomfortable with Faye using a dog as a metaphor for Bubbles? Whatever else, if a prospective other half used that metaphor about me ... "smoochies" would not be my go to reply.

I guess in the end it will probably be resolved positively, but all the things that need to be dealt with - Bubble's anger, Faye's realizing she likes a lady, the whole robot/human stigma - it's tough. And I don't know if Bubbles or Faye have the skills to deal with it gracefully!

Why would it end badly though? Sure that's always a possibility, but it's already confirmed Bubbles is into Faye, and Faye is so obviously into Bubbles. She just doesn't recognize that, though hopefully these two are about to point it out.

I am profoundly uncomfortable with this. Faye's sister lacks maturity (kinda like Faye a few years back) and her girlfriend is pretty invasive/insensitive - I have a terrible feeling that this is going to end very badly with another fight between Faye and Bubbles. :(

Ships aside, Faye is a real nice friend. You can tell she really cares about Bubbles, given their pasts, and is helping her... well, not to forget the bleakness of the past, but to look ahead and make a brighter future. By doing that, as well, Faye can see for herself that there is a better tomorrow, that there is something worth holding on to. People like that are rare.

The expression on Faye's face in panel 4 is everything to me. It says it all. I love the way Jeph's handling the whole #Faybles thing. The slow blossoming of their friendship to... whatever it ends up being... has been handled beautifully. It seems like such an unlikely pairing but it just works so damn well.
