I'm still pretty curious about the identity and motivations of this strange newcomer. I'm hoping they make a return and we get to see more about why they decided to intervene. It would be a shame if this random AI were written purely as a deus ex machina for allowing Bubbles to get some closure. While the whole "Bubbles has friends and they all care about each other deeply" is aww-inducing, I can't help but feel more drawn to the mysterious elements of this recent arc.

I think you are misunderstanding, these panels of conversation happened at the same time they went in to check what Emily had seen was correct. They then left afterwards as seen at the end of the last comic. He just did these out of order to show the multiple perspectives and leave the emotional impacts for the right time in sequence..
