Comics & Videos Tier Merging

Hey all, I'm often not vocal about my production because I know many people here just want to see cool shit but I want to write it down for transparency and those who are interested.

TL;DR - Comics take too long, will be pushed into main tier again.

I Will Still Make Comics

Comics will no longer be an expected delivery, instead they will simply be released whenever they've been made. They will go into the main tier for everyone!

Closing Tiers

Tiers on Patreon get "unpublished" but they keep you subscribed, so you need to undo this yourself. Hence the need for this post.

The Comics + Videos tier will become an extra support tier, this is because I don't have a donation link and some people expressed giving extra support. I highly recommend swapping to the main tier again, especially if this doesn't interest you.

Now I'm going to talk about the boring technical part about how comics got to this position...

High Production Time

A few months ago I was feeling let-down by the lack of storytelling in my videos which was the entire point of why I started Minia. This didn't get better so I started a new division of comics to help improve my financials and build a new creative medium for myself.

It was a good idea that I think I executed well, the problem was that I jumped into a long-form comic immediately. Generally when you start a new medium, you're inefficient at it. It's the same reason I didn't try to do a video on the scope of "Your Dust" or "Interview_Camcorder" in my first few weeks- because it would've taken months to produce.

Long-form comics lock you into using the same art-style and as such- methods -to keep it consistent with previous chapters. Despite me making human characters more realistic in videos, and practicing efficient comic styles (bubblewrap & poke) I still cannot use these until Sierra, My Love is finished because it'll look completely different.

So I'm stuck using manual lining, old models and old compositing techniques, resulting in 3 week production time for a single chapter, which eats into video time.

It has been stressful often, which I think has prevented me from improving the videos, due to the rush of "oh no, it's been 4 weeks since my last video!" and putting out something short or sub-par.
