Release of v0.70
Added 2022-09-22 06:30:48 +0000 UTCContent
The release of v0.70 represents a slightly smaller update than usual, giving me the space needed to work on the upcoming 2 larger-than-usual releases in the upcoming months.
Having said that, the additional time that this update gave me in my schedule has been invaluable and has allowed me to make some additional changes to the game that I think will go a long way in making the game feel better in general. Specifically, the following:
1) New story content for the 'Sailor'-storyline. In addition to several new scenes and artwork featuring Sarah x Captain Belmont, I have also changed how this content can be discovered in the game, making it more intuitive than before (see below).
2) New splash-screen art start to give a smoother intro to the start of the game, and art which I think more accurately matches the style and quality that I hope the whole game will eventually reflect
3) Music! Much requested but finally included. The game now features several rotating ambient tracks that give you something to listen to while you play. Additionally, there is one scene (the mercenary exam) where I've made a first step into trying out some audio-design to match the tone of the scene. It's a first step, but I eventually hope to have a more coherent audio-design for the whole game.
How do you get to the new content?
Getting to the new Sailor content requires you to leave with Kate, and have at least one encounter between Sarah and Belmont on the boat, leaving for Lethram. That means either Sarah giving herself up, or Sarah and Kate together. After that, any of the 3 possible exam training routes, should offer up the optional encounter with Belmont that allows you to start the Sailor-route.
Looking ahead
Currently I'm very hard at work at balancing everything for the next two updates. As I've mentioned, they're each quite sizeable (and an even bigger one is on the horizon after). My goal is to still get one out per month.
I'm really looking forward to letting you all know about the contents of those future updates by next week.
The Link
As per usual
I always request any of you to contact me about game-breaking bugs or other issues you encounter, but I think that applies extra for this update. Though I've tested it, I have been digging around in the insides of the code more than usual, so in case anything breaks/doesn't work, feel free to let me know and I'll try and fix it as quickly as I'm able.
