The deer that are treated in this show refers to the deer in Nara Park. Deer crackers are deer feed sold there. The deer crackers are harmless to humans but have little taste. (I've eaten deer crackers in the park. lol) Proceeds from the sale of deer crackers will be used to protect the deer in Nara Park and ensure their safe births. What is 「虎視眈々（こしたんたん）koshi-tan-tan」？ 虎視（こし）"Tiger watching" means that the tiger observes its prey intently. 耽々（たんたん）" means to watch vigilantly, to look down upon. 虎視眈々（こしたんたん）means that the tiger is watching with a keen eye for prey. Generally speaking, it refers to the act of waiting for an opportunity to take advantage of an enemy or opponent. Koshi Torako (虎視虎子) seems to be a character with such a meaning.
