If you happen to be one of the amazing men who do make the effort to learn about the female anatomy, and care about your partner’s sexual experience with you, I don’t know that you take offense to a song like this, rather you are likely to understand where it comes from and why it’s relatable.

2025-03-23 15:52:58 +0000 UTCWell see, you are kind of touching on it yourself here but sexism, racism and other oppressions is rooted in an inequal distribution of power and it being taking advantage of and used to oppress. Reverse sexism is not really a thing (I.e. sexism from women towards men) as men still hold the power in our patriarchal societies. As long as women are oppressed and not equal to men in our society a women speaking bluntly are not oppressing men but levelling the playing field (no matter if you think it’s done in a nice way or not) and hence it is not the same, it will not be until we reach equality. If a man would talk in the same way about women they are adding to an already prevalent narrative and power structure of women existing to please men. Mind you, it’s not like this doesn’t happen. This is a very common narrative about women in pop culture and in everyday life that often times is not even questioned but simple fly under the radar (of not always, many of these narratives are obv being questioned more heavily all the time). Just maybe food for thought to add to that discussion :).

Showed it to my hubby though and had an interesting conversation about sexism and the socially acceptable sexism that women display towards men (I.e. if the tables were turned, I wouldn’t want to hear a song from a male singer about how much women suck in bed). But then again how many terrible things men have done for basically…ever, especially of a sexual nature- and how that history makes this particular kind of sexism (anti-man narratives) feel good and valid to participate in as a woman. But then the anti-man narratives causing general male outrage, which has fueled the pro-Trump macho craziness. Haaaaaha - all that just from this bop! I love the song and particularly love hearing a country song that celebrates LGBT community! Such a slay.
