Status update

This week I'll just post a small recap of where we're at with the different areas that are currently being worked on:

Physics-based Dragon & Creator
Currently working on the system for creating different body shapes as explained last week, as well as some tools to streamline the creation of dragon creator assets.


World
We're exploring different ways to achieve a single huge seamless world without sacrificing too much quality.


Battle System
The focus right now is integrating physics into the simulation, so units can for example be affected by the dragon's body or flying debris from destruction.


Destruction
This is taking a back seat for now to focus on the dragon creator.

Models
The dragon saddle is just about to be textured, while the new armor is still being modelled.

Comments

It certainly makes it harder but I'm confident it will look good in the end, just requires more work to make everything parametric and vary based on the size/shape, but that's also what procedural animation does best

How will the dragon creator/dragon size affect the attacks and animations for the dragon? I can imagine claw/tail swipes, bites, eating, and rider/dragon interactions(petting the dragon, mantling it, etc.) not being easy to procedurally animate with a good amount of detail when the size and shape of the dragon will be able to vary so greatly. Or will the new physics based model make it easier to do so?

i love where this is going. one of my only wishes is that you please dont just keep the customization simple, for example i want to be able to make a dragon like vaghar. you know very old ropes and vines all over her back and neck, and she's got the little flappy neck. thats what i want the most. if there is aging in the game that will make it absolutely perfect.

i hop that the Dragon Creator would be able to support Custom Dragons like ones based off of sonas like Mine For example with different types of scars and wound types

I think adding dragon death in battles with wild dragons or in NPC battles would be awesome, but also if you DONT die your creature grows in size so that eventually your dragon can be like a Vhagar as a reward for survival!
