Dragontwins Part 2
Added 2024-09-30 00:21:37 +0000 UTCLast week I presented some preliminary lore around dragontwins, focusing on how they are created and what they look like. This week I'll continue down that path but instead focusing on sine of the effects of the bond. As I said in the first part, these are mainly ideas for now and not necessarily final lore.
The shared soul results in certain character traits being amplified in the human depending on the temperament of the bound dragon. While many draconic traits are positive, it is not uncommon for dragons to be power hungry, destructive, wrathful and selfish, hoarding treasure and raining fire on anyone who dares challenge them. In some cases such traits may spill over to the dragontwin, to the detriment of the world at large.
As the shared soul goes both ways, the dragon also gains some human characteristics. With a partially human soul, the dragon develops deeper emotions and a heightened intelligence that results in more complex behaviour and understanding of humans. This turns it into a formidable ally that understands and adopts the goals of the dragontwin.
The bond lets the dragontwin sense the intentions and emotions of the dragon and vice versa (I haven't decided yet if there will be full on telepathic communication or just sensing). This is especially useful on dragonback, to help steer the flying in the right direction or hit the intended target with a blast of fire. The bond also links the life force of the dragontwin and dragon together, resulting in the death of both parts if one should fall. This means they also age together, with the possibility of living for centuries or more with the lifespan of dragons.

Will it be possible to play the game just as a wild dragon? Like will I have the same option to disable the rider on the full game as I do in the demo?
