Candid Talk About Something Big

Hello Patrons,

Today is an important ramble. I've been navigating something very big and conflicting.

Moments after recording this ramble I felt much more clarity about the direction I will go, I considered rerecording but here are my unfiltered conflicted thoughts.

"Big things coming." - Joel Haver

Love, Joel

I totally understand your struggle, I really think it's a great thing how you've demonstrated that creative freedom and integrity are not just moral virtues but have allowed you to create absolutely amazing content. I too have personally made the choice to focus on creating projects which i think are a benefit to the world because I believe and understand that it's better to live an average life in a good world than to be rich in a terrible one, and that as Voltaire said the best thing in life is to tend your garden with friends and if you're on a good path then you'll meet good friends... Money is one of the least important things in the world, but please for the love of everything that's beautiful - please just do some ad reads and monetization vehicles... Something like you sit down with a load of toys, and maybe Trent, tell a load of stories off the top of your head using the toys to vaguely illustrate the things you're making up - it doesn't have to be anything, just silly, sweet, weird, whatever... Film for an hour or two, put an advert break between each story, have your audio levels a bit higher than normal so when the adverts cut in they're not suddenly louder and i along with many other people will watch them to help us sleep, enjoy every second of them, we wont care about the adverts and if you've got a few in a playlist it'll probably keep playing for hours. And with the sponsorships, sure don't advertise scams but if Warthunder or someone want to throw some money your way I think you should really consider taking it. I only donate a dollar so take what i say with a gain of salt but I support you because I think what you're doing is important but also because i want to live in a world where people like you do well and are able to set an example of how to create and share in positive ways. I'd love to see you using your success here to enable you to explore other creative ventures and methods, and the great thing about what you have here is that if you don't like where the path you choose takes you there's always the option to come back here with a deeper understanding of who you are, what you want to make and why.

Joel, I'd recommend checking out Runway AI "First Frame" Feature. It's kind of like a modern EBSynth. It processes on their servers, not locally, so may be faster and more effecient for your workflow.

Joel, echoing what so many of your patrons have already said but it's worth repeating -- your work is valuable and you deserve to be well paid for it. It's not a one way door, stay true to yourself, we know how much you pour your heart into your work! <3

Hi Joel, I'm curious about why the animations are so labor intensive. I saw "How I animated this video" but that was 4 years ago so I don't know if your workflow has changed since then. I'm a programmer/machine learning person and I'd be interested in potentially creating an alternative to EbSynth for you that could make your life easier. Hit me up 🤙 I've been following your videos for a while, keep it up, love the rambles too <3
