I am beyond excited to drop the first movie from the "12 Features in 12 Months" project!
I've been chipping away at this movie everyday since New Years and I am so proud of how it turned out. I always wanted to give Caleb Johnston a feature length framework and this felt like the perfect first project for the year.
I am also happy I managed to get it out with a few days to spare. I've already been planting seeds for the second movie which is a whole different beast. Excited to dive headfirst into that project!
Thank you so much for your generosity that has a lit a flame under this crazy year.

This movie hits close to home for me. I think everyone has a "Caleb Phase". That desire to hold on to the past and somehow reincarnate it to the present. You keep kicking that can of denial down the road just a little further... Until one day, there's... Just no can left. Oh, there's something... But, it doesn't remotely resemble a can. Just a scrap of metal with faded print. Most people, they stop kicking it any further. Then... Some... Try. And, keeping trying, until all they're doing is wearing out the soles of their shoes. I've known a few at this point. I just hope they can find their way somehow.

It’s hard to accept that my friends who used to say, ‘fuck growing up’ have in fact grown up anyway. and the good ol’ days aren’t here anymore. There a grief that comes with growing up and accepting the death of our adolescence. No one prepares us for it, and it’s fucking hard. And I’m grieving with Caleb.

I shared more thoughts later in the night and she convinced herself to sit down and watch it. I let her watch it alone. She kept talking about it for the rest of the night and mentioned it during breakfast this morning. She said she can't stop thinking about it and I believe that's a good way to sum up the experience. She went to Trader Joe's and bought dino eggs for the first time today as well.

It felt like a trailer to me, in a weird way. So glad u kept the outfit around and stayed true. Just like with Pretend That You Love Me, you have a a great skill for making genuine, relatable characters that are easy to understand and get attached to. I really respect the thought put into this film and I don’t feel like the immersion is ever broken. The goofy vlog style really goes a long way in building this character out.
