Patreon Ramble #12 - Complainin'

Hey everyone!

In this month's ramble I take some time to complain about my petty squabbles and they're pretty dang petty!

Also! 1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!

What an insane number, thank you so much for watching, commenting, sharing and supporting.

Also also! I've been doing a lot of collabs with smaller channels that should be releasing throughout the coming weeks. I love using my newfound internet fame to lift up smaller creators and plan to do that when possible moving forward.

Here's a playlist of my collabs on other people's channels that I'll update regularly- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKtIcOP0WvJA3Gq78RrYviiplS8LN4FXs

The playlist is pinned on my channel page! I'll try to make community posts on YouTube when a new collab comes out so keep your eyes out for those as well.

Hope you're having a nice day!

Love, Joel

PS: In the ramble I mention Heimlich: The Untold True Story, one of my favorite shorts I've done that I think is criminally underrated! Check that out here - https://youtu.be/oUl28reg4rk

I love it when you make me cry Joel <3

Zack Augustus

couldn't be happier watching my favourite youtuber complaining while being the funniest, nicest guy haha

Aramis

Couldn’t be more proud.

Charles Zhang

I want to see vlogs from van journeys. Maybe second channel?

Szymon Matuszewski

I ended up watching every ramble back to back... lol Seeing the previous person's comment, it'd be interesting to see what your perspective is on hiring another artist to help with the animation/illustration portion.

You know what would be perfect is if a duck got stuck in the eddy that was to Joel's right. Also, I'm pretty happy that you're having a good life and you seem to understand that your time is valuable. I think as time goes on, you'll be able to do more by hiring people (yeah, I know, more headache). What I really hope to see is a cameo or some small part in a Hollywood film of you and your friends, just talking. You have the Everyman way about you, and you bring it to your films. I think you also manage to put words and film to the thoughts that a lot of people think, but never actually say. Your film about the White People conversations, that is me and my friends. I have no idea why it is so awkward. In regards to being a patron of your art, I can honestly say that when I choose an artist to support, I really think it through carefully, because my main goal is to support them for as long as it takes them to grow their wings. Also, I usually stick around. I only unsubbed twice, and that was because one of them told everyone they were leaving, and they didn't put out content for eight months. Finally I unsubbed and next thing I know, content. It wasn't because they didn't put out content, though. It was because they seemed like they didn't care about their patrons or their fans. Another, I unsubbed him because I was looking up some content that he talked about, and I found his narration matched word for word a book on the same content. The book was written by a middle-aged woman. But, as far as I am concerned, Joel, you have my money for probably ever, on account you are a hundred percent original, I know you really enjoy what you do, and I can tell this is your lifelong dream. At this point, I am the patron of three people, and all of them are creating content that is their chosen career. So, I feel I am contributing to their career, and they will make people happy. The world is a better place for people who produce art. Thanks for making us laugh and think, and sometimes shed a tear.

You should hire an intern to help with animation. Maybe we can raise more funds

I love watching these. Joel is slowly becoming my new spirit animal. Also, I tried to imagine how would you make a video to give back all the wasted time to those complaining. There are a thousand videos I can think of for Joel to make, but I'm interested about the ones I can't think of.

AlejoLab

Thanks for existing Joel.

Easing up on the animations is a great idea. Their quality is still great and it's awesome to see arcs closed, but don't want them to grow stale too quickly.

I want those 13min of my life back 😡😡

Was really hoping for a jump into the river at the end!

Gachazeen !

Since you put out the video explaining how to make the animations, you could maybe get some backup with the tedious elements of editing those. Good editors can be hard to find but you seem to have a quite a bit of support. It might also be funny to just ask people to edit raw footage for free, and see what weird or brilliant things people come up with. Keep up the great content!

TBH I'm a big anti-cancel culture whiner and I loved that video. Joel can make anything funny

DrSmart

Really thought you were going to mention the "Comedian Podcast" video as I'm sure that attracted a contentious comment section.

I can totally relate with the feeling of "but there are better ones!!" when it comes to random videos blowing up, but like you said it makes sense, and oh well, some things are better off as hidden gems sometimes, hopefully one day they'll get their moment to shine

Noor

It was only a matter of time! Congrats!

Ryan Allen

I will bring the crossbow if you bring the instruments.

Andy Wolf

"Strange."

Andy Wolf

Felt like I was chilling with you on the porch and you were letting me in on one of those personal kind of conversations where you just pour out unfiltered thoughts that are pretty straightforward. honest, and just seem to make a lot of damn sense.

goat on a stick

Sike thanks for all the art! Proud to support it!

I can’t believe I wasted 13:45 waiting for you to jump in that stream for NOTHING! 😤

Woody stole them on his getaway boat.

Joel Haver

Happy you think so! I love making them, partially cause they’re quick and easy and partially cause I love an excuse to just talk aimlessly!

Joel Haver

Very charming video. I can definitely relate with the frustration of the 'wrong video' getting all the views.

Giuliano

Yeah, but where are the crossbows in this video?

Rachel K.

if any of you are lonely and have parasocial issues, i'll be your friend irl. im a software engineering student, gamer, musician, joel haver fan, etc... we probably got something in common

I just got my truck today to haul a travel trailer; I'll be a digital nomad in a few months. Sounds like we need to meet up around a roaring campfire and practice our Heimlich Maneuver!

Austin Milt

You da man, Joel!

Joe

RIP Woody

Dylan Dexter

Have a good weekend, dude! I hope you find a comfortable pace you can maintain.

Bear is Driving

Congrats on 1 million Joel! Would love to collab if you ever make your way to Cleveland or Chicago. They’ve all been great so far. Thanks for the laughs!

Had to go watch Heimlich; totally one of my favorites. I haven't watched any of your previous rambles yet, so maybe that's where you have announced it previously but it was news to me that you plan to live in a van and travel. So cool! I plan to do the same in the next year or two, except I figure I need more than a van as I have three cats. Maybe we'll cross paths out on the road one day! Also the animations are fantastic but nothing will replace the live action. Love everything you do!

I don’t know why i find your rants so consistently hilarious, but I do! Maybe it’s the framing of them of you just talking in the middle of nowhere or maybe it’s just your natural charm, but for some reason I always look forward to them. Keep up the good work!

Heimlich is criminally underrated I agree, not that I have any bias in saying so whatsoever.

Brandon Dester

I love you man
