"And I am Lux. Lux Imperator, the god of light! I am the dazzle at the heart of the pantheon and the glint in the eyes of the mad. I am the last thing you see before you fall into the abyss.", Mr Ring-a-Ding, "Lux"
A fun episode from RTD - with perhaps some divided opinions with the fans. That 7.7 IMDB rating was made up with 21% of viewers rating it a 10, 19% rating it 9, and 26% rating it 8.
"Well, I really, really loved it, though I'd mark it down to a seven out of ten, cos it gave away the ending in the middle.", Lizzie (Who fan / no surname), "Lux"
And 14% gave it a 7. But there were some IMDB people who ranked it a 1.
"Get ready, cos here ... I ... come!", Mr Ring-a-Ding, "Lux"
Having the antagonist being a cartoon character makes this a very strange episode. But there have been very off-the-wall Classic Who episodes too - a 2nd Doctor adventure springs to mind.
"Don't make me laugh - because it sounds like this. Ha-ha-ha ha-ha-ha-ha!", Mr Ring-a-Ding, "Lux"
Mr Ring-a-Ding is voiced by Alan Cumming who we've seen reasonably recently as King James I in "The Witchfinders".
And it's nice how we have an immediately recognizable callback threat with the Giggle musical arpeggio.
Lux was manifested with a reflection from a spoon. To tie in with the others in the Panteon: the Doctor saw Maestro in a reflection in a spoon; and in the recent adventure with Sutekh, the Doctor needed something real - a metal spoon.
"Darn it. I was so big when I arrived. I should never have learned perspective.", Mr Ring-a-Ding, "Lux"
That's quite funny.
"Go on, then. What's your favourite adventure?", "Blink.", "Definitely Blink.", "Blink. Every time.", The Doctor, Lizzie, Hassan, and Robyn, "Lux"
The whole scene with the Who fans was just a delight. And those actors who played the fans are all fans of the show.
I'm happy you saw the mid-credit scene as well - it just makes the weird episode that much weirder.
"Better warn you, though. Limited run only. Show ends May the 24th.", Mrs Flood, "Lux"
I like these end scenes with Mrs Flood.

If you are looking for shows to react to after you’re done with dr who. Here are two I would recommend. Both on Netflix. ‘Travelers’ a very interesting time travel show that ran for 3 series. And ‘3 body problem,’ a really great show that I think you’d enjoy, that has been renewed for two more series. If you haven’t seen either the they are worth reacting to.
