Dr. Who Reaction 12x5 - Fugitive of the Judoon

Comments

"Hello, I'm the Doctor. I'm a traveller in Space and Time, and that thing buried down there is called a TARDIS - Time And Relative Dimension In Space. You're going to love this.", Ruth/Doctor, "Fugitive of the Judoon" I liked the story's misdirection of us believing that Lee was the target of the Judoon - only to wonder why they might be after Ruth - before the massive misdirection of Ruth being the Doctor! "Captain Jack Harkness at your service. Me and the Doc, we go way back.", Captain Jack, "Fugitive of the Judoon" I like seeing Captain Jack again. In case you haven't checked out the broadcast details - we last saw Captain Jack in Doctor Who in the bar at the end of "The End of Time" in 2010 when David's Doctor introduces him to Midshipman Frame (you were probably sobbing uncontrollably at the time). We last saw Captain Jack onscreen in Torchwood in the "Miracle Day" series in 2011 - around the time of Matt Doctor's "The Girl Who Waited". And we saw John Barrowman playing "himself" in the 2013 "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.". "Ko Fro Lo.", Judoon Captain, "Fugitive of the Judoon" In terms of returning monsters, we last saw the Judoon onscreen (disguised) in the trap street in "Face the Raven". Paul Kasey was the performance artist inside the Judoon Captain. He has been inside many of the Doctor Who monsters from "Rose" where he played an Auton. I forgot to mention it last week, but he also played Harold Green, Edison's employee - I think it's the only time we see him out of a mask in the Doctor Who series. "Take her advice, little woman.", Gat, "Fugitive of the Judoon" So who was Gat and who were the Judoon working for? More mysteries ... stay tuned. "Try my guided tour. I know all the exciting facts about Gloucester yes, I do. Test me." ... "They filmed Harry Potter here, too.", Ruth, "Fugitive of the Judoon" The Gloucester Cathedral cloisters and some other similar locations like doorways (we don't see the locations in this Doctor Who episode) were used in the early Harry Potter films to be bits of Hogwarts School. "That's the worst cake I've ever seen.", Graham, "Fugitive of the Judoon" I did like the "You can do better" icing. But I don't understand why Lee went to that cafe to get a cake knowing the animosity Allan had for him. "You're the Doctor. Whoever you were in the past or are in the future, we know who you are right now." ... "The best person we know.", Ryan and Graham, "Fugitive of the Judoon"

Andrew Vignaux

I have serious issues with this story - but I can't reveal what they are at this particular point. It certainly FEELS a hugely significant episode on a first viewing, though! Series 12 is definitely more full-on than its immediate predecessor
