Dr. Who Series 8 Episode 5 - Time Heist

I´m sorry that the mic quality is a little bit worse than usual, I had to make changes with my recording software (Thanks to my editing programme), and the microphone decided to not like me anymore. I hope it´ll be better again in the next video. I´ll try my best to get it back up :)

Dr. Who Series 8 Episode 5 - Time Heist

Comments

A heist story that isn´t a heist story :D I like this episode the best as well, out of those three Stephen has mentioned :) And I liked pretty much all episodes of the Sherlock TV series :) Yes that telephone jump cut was pretty good. I forgot to mention that in my review :) I really missed that James Masters projection. I would have screamed otherwise :D And I see what you did there, my favorite Cowboys episode :D :D

I guess every episode is worse if you don´t like the doctor. I´m so happy that I enjoyed him from the very start. :)

Thank you for your opinion :)

I´m glad the mic quality wasn´t too obvious. Maybe I´m just a little to anxious when it comes to the quality of the videos. I think this one was way better than Curse of the Black Spot, for me it´s the weakest episode out of those 3.

"I am the Doctor. A Time Lord of Gallifrey. I've agreed to this memory wipe of my own free will", The Doctor, "Time Heist" I like this one. I like the way that the Doctor Who TV series has the ability to try stories using all sorts of different genres - in this case a high-class heist story. It turns out it wasn't actually a heist story, but anyway ... And a heist story - I'll keep calling it that - with a twist in the setup in that the gang don't actually know the plan and are just trying to the best they can. And there is the big twist at the end as well. I agree with you, I also like the two side-characters in our gang - they have good back-stories which I think is an important part of the "heist"-genre - you want interesting characters with different types of expertise. As mention by Stephen above, the author of the episode has previously written a few "genre" stories in Doctor Who. I like this one the best of the three. BTW: the author also wrote three episodes of the "Sherlock" TV series. We have a nice callback to the memory worm - just played for laughs with Strax before in "The Snowmen" - but actually necessary for this plot. And the jump cut that goes from the Doctor with the telephone to the Doctor holding the memory worm works really well. You may have missed it - I certainly did the first time - but one of the criminals that Psi projects is Captain John from Torchwood (James Marsters). Kahler-Tek from your favourite Cowboys episode "A Town Called Mercy" was also shown. And a Slitheen as if you cared. There were also some Classic Who monsters/criminals - probably included mainly to make people like me happy. I like the pun for the word "Teller" - they are in a bank. But the story is elevated by the twist at the end. I do like this story. "There's no immediate threat." *** WARNING - INTRUDERS DETECTED *** "I really should stop saying things like that.", The Doctor, "Time Heist" I've just watched a Classic Who story where the Doctor says almost exactly the same thing.

Yes I actually enjoyed this one at the time. Saibra and Psi are good. clara looks great. It's a good plot with a twist at the end. The only problem was at the time I still hadn't gelled with this Doctor. He's still unlikable and I hated the whole I hate the architect and the shutty up, up , up line towards the end. Still I gave it 4/5 and I've ranked it 108th/140. Really enjoyed it this time round when watching this reaction though. So far I've found a better appreciation for this series.

Not much to say about this episode I love heist movies/tv shows and I love Dr who I think it combined both very well. I liked the two characters Saibra & Psi, and Capaldi as usual was on top form.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the mic quality but maybe I'm just not very perceptive. A good, solid episode I think with an intriguing mystery, some real jeopardy and a lovely ending for the two alien creatures. I was just reading some of the reviews from the time and one critic insisted that it should have been fifteen minutes longer as there were too many ideas crammed into 45 minutes! For what it's worth, I think it's about the right length. The man who wrote this one also wrote The Curse of the Black Spot and Journey to the Centre of the Tardis so I guess he likes creating a dilemma or quest in an enclosed space.
