ALSO! There was a question from fohfuu that I missed while recording!! So, I want to answer it here! Very sorry about that, fohfuu!!
Answer: So, I have never read Homestuck and I had never seen SBaHJ before. But I did look into it after I saw this question. I really don't know if any of these series have a direct correlation with it, but I do think its an interesting parallel. I think the similarities are indicative of a larger theme of the internet, which I only really got into near the end of the video, and as I say at the end of this commentary track, was initially going to be expanded upon further, but I was a little out of my depth. I think these ironic and unfiction elements of internet storytelling are a natural occurrence when you look at how highly self-aware internet culture is. The internet's culture is incredibly post-modern and self-conscious, so I think these elements are bound to reinvent themselves and appear in different series. The internet also sits in a very strange place in reality. Its real, but also not. Its authentic but also you can never know what is genuine. So the blurring of storytelling in an unfiction way feels natural, just like satire and irony I think are natural to the culture of the internet.
Hopefully that was a decent answer, just some of my thoughts when reading your question! Hoping not to miss any questions next time lmao.
