Within the Practice Court

Kaalexh’Toruun frowns as he watches the Successor of Chaos prepare her attack using the volleyball.

Kaalexh is a member of the extrala species. Also known by many as the hunter species.

The hunters have deep blueish green skin with four arms, two legs, and a humanoid form and head. They’re a species with higher than average strength and speed.

But despite that, it’s also a species whose entire culture is all about hunting with magic. Specifically mana manipulation.

The greater a hunter’s skills are at mana manipulation and casting spells, the better respected they are. Both inside and outside of their species.

That’s why Kaelexh and his species have never been very impressed by Ashley.

She’s a Successor who has been given an immense number of System skills through her skill to take the Skill Trees of others along with her own Successor Skills. And she’s never really bothered much with mana manipulation.

The Successor of Chaos has relied on her skills for a long time. Especially her Queen of Destruction skills.

So Kaelexh doesn’t respect her.

He doesn’t respect anyone who relies entirely on those cheats.

But now? As he sees the girl using pure mana manipulation to cast numerous spells across the volleyball?

Respect begins to bloom in him for the Successor of Chaos.

Even if he knows the only reason she’s doing it is because her True Damage Unique Skill works best with mana manipulation magic.

The ball she throws slams into the other side of the court, covering the entire side of the court with a blizzard while a powerful burst of ice energy floods across the court. And on top of that, large spikes of ice shoot out from the point of impact.

Kaelexh and the other members of the team watch on in awe at the sight. All the way until the ice energy and blizzard finally begin to dissipate.

Silence stretches on for several seconds as they all stare at the dissipating blizzard. And at the aftermath of the other side of the court that’s revealed once the snow’s dissipated.

Aftermath that sends a chill down Kaelexh’s spine, since the entire side of the court has been turned into a frozen wasteland. There are also dozens of ice spikes scattered across it. With a large number of them piercing into the ground.

The only thing that’s undamaged in the court is the volleyball that is completely indestructible.

Of course, Kaelexh could do just as much damage himself with his own spells. But the fact that Ashley is only half of his level and just entered Class C makes it terrifying to him. That she’s already on par with him in power.

Possibly even stronger, considering that Ashley’s magic has True Damage in it.

Kaelexh and the others continue staring at the other side of the court for several seconds, only to snap out of it when they hear a yawning sound. Making them turn towards Ashley, where they find her looking down at a small tiger cub.

A tiger cub that is currently yawning.

Why didn’t I notice the cub earlier…?

Everyone in the practice court finds themselves staring at the cub as it yawns as if it’s bored.

Then, when the ball is magically lifted back into their side of the court, and the other side of the court is repaired by the System, the tiger cub turns towards the ball. And when it opens its mouth again, making everyone expect another yawn, a powerful blast of eternal snow ice energy fires from its mouth directly at the ball. With numerous spell circles revolving around its mouth.

Kaelexh finds himself shocked once again at the sight of the tiny little tiger cub blasting the ball straight over the net again.

Even the little tiger cub…?

The cub’s attack isn’t nearly as powerful as Ashley’s, but it’s still far stronger than what a level 351 should be able to do.

Kaelexh looks at the other members of their team to find them all showing signs of respect for Ashley. Despite their initial thoughts about her being too low a level to really help them.

After seeing her and her companion’s power, Kaelexh decides to test her. So he moves to the other side of the court after it restores itself.

“Would you like to try against an opponent?” Kaelexh asks while lifting one hand palm upwards in front of him and making a purple spell circle appear above it.

Ashley raises a brow before grabbing the ball and doing what appears to be a repeat of her earlier spell. Sending the volleyball covered in ice straight over the net.

But Kaelexh doesn’t just let it pass him by as he creates numerous barriers to slow it down using his own spells. Then he eventually reaches out to catch it after it’s slowed enough.

Only to find his hands freezing solid when they touch the ball, surprising him that she’s strong enough to cause that much damage.

True Damage is one thing, but it still only deals an amount of damage that Ashley can deal out. Regardless of its passing through all defenses.

And Kaelexh’s natural constitution is far greater than any of her opponents so far as a level seven hundred.

Still. That’s not enough to defeat him so easily.

He quickly melts the ice with fire magic while also restoring his body through healing magic. Leaving the injuries fully restored. Albeit with the ball managing to slip out of his hands in the process. While they were wounded and frozen.

Which means she managed to score on him.

Kaelexh feels a faint grin spread across his face.

This is going to be more fun than I thought.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ashley

I can’t help but feel surprised at the sight of the guy actually catching my throw. And it’s not just that, but he manages to completely recover from the damage in moments.

It’s honestly rather refreshing, seeing as I’m not used to people being strong enough to fight back. At least amongst users.

To my further surprise, the man activates dozens upon dozens of spells in mere moments before launching the ball back at me with a sonic boom. Making it move faster than I can react to as it slams into the ground and makes a large crater right next to me.

Scoring back a point in revenge for the point I scored on him.

I match his grin with my own at the sight of someone in my Class that can actually match me.

Although it’s slightly blunted by the fact that he’s at the end of the Class and I’m at the start of it. But still.

The two of us continue practicing together for a few minutes before the other four team members begin to get to work as well. With them all showing each other what they’re capable of, trying offense and defense, and working with different groups to see who works best together.

After a little time has passed, we all begin to decide on positions and strategies for when we go up against the other teams.

Overall, I’m rather satisfied with our team.

I’m the lowest level of our team by far, but I’m not the weakest one on our team. And I can even match up against the strongest ones on our team in terms of brute force power.

Even if that’s only because of the True Damage that my eternal snow gives me.

Unfortunately for me, Gaze of Destruction isn’t allowed in this event. Since the event is for mana manipulation magic only.

Other skills aren’t allowed.

The only reason I can use Eternal Snow is because it’s a passive skill that alters my ice energy. Which is what’s used for my ice mana manipulation magic.

It changes the very foundation of my ice magic.

I smile as our team finishes up preparing our strategies for the event. And soon after that, we’re all teleported into a new court for the first match.
