Aria

So far this planet has been pretty nice overall. While the various regional leaders here have been rather rude to a degree, the planet’s nice. And the Hunter’s Spots are beautiful too considering how shiny the crimson diamonds are.

But more importantly, the wine at the ramen place was incredible.

Unfortunately they refuse to tell me where they source their wine.

I won’t give up though. Ever.

I will figure out where to get that wine one of these days.

Other than that, nothing particularly interesting happens during our stay on the planet. The leaders on the planet continue to keep watch on us, but they don’t do anything. For obvious reasons.

Although War finds some entertainment in going around challenging all of their strongest warriors to duels. Then wiping the floor with them.

At this point I think he’s largely traumatized half of the top warriors on the planet, and he’s practically made the other half worship him after he gives them tips to improve their fighting styles.

I’m pretty sure this world’s leadership really don’t like him.

They actually seem to be transferring any of their previous wariness aimed at me to War instead. Probably because all I’m doing is drinking wine and killing mana creatures. Completely ignoring the crimson diamonds in the Hunter’s Spots.

Meanwhile War is traumatizing their soldiers and making half of them his students.

Eventually, I head back to the Eternal Championships. Because the junior branch of the Eternal Championships is about to begin.

And War follows me back saying something about wanting to watch my adopted kids fight.

I ignore him, though. Just focusing entirely on the arena as one battle of the junior branch begins after another.

All the way until Ruby makes her appearance.

“That’s the kid you adopted, right?” War asks while leaning forward in his throne next to mine.

I nod my head while leaning a bit forward myself, focusing my gaze on Ruby as she walks towards the center of the arena. Where she ends up face to face against an ice mage.

Then, right after the referee announces the start of the match, Ruby transforms into her werewolf form. Growing an entire foot in height as fur sprouts up across her body and her armor itself grows and changes form with her. Making for quite a sight to behold.

And the audience roars its approval. Not just because the announcer announced her as my daughter, but because of what they see next. When Ruby rushes forwards and grabs the ice mage by the throat before throwing them into the barrier on the other side of the arena.

Knocking the mage out in a single move.

“Not bad,” War mutters as he narrows his eyes a little. Then he turns to look at me and asks, “Is that transformation biological or magical? I didn’t sense any magic.”

“It’s biological,” I tell him without taking my gaze from the arena, where Ruby is walking out of the arena without a second glance at the audience. Only briefly glancing at my booth with a brief flash of expectation on her face. As if she’s hoping that I’m impressed or something. “Her planet was a testing ground for one of Pestilence’s viruses, and her parents were infected by it but managed to retain their sanity. They then had both Ruby and Ryan, who I guess you could consider like sub-species of humans.”

“Is that so?” War mutters, turning his gaze back to the arena as Ruby steps out of it, having already transformed back into her regular appearance. He then stays silent for a while until it’s Ryan’s turn to fight. At which point Ryan completely wipes the floor with his opponent just like Ruby. Then War turns to me again and says, “I would like to train them.”

I turn to him in surprise as I ask, “Why?”

“Because I’ve never seen beings like them before,” War answers while looking at the arena again. “And I’ve already come up with a few fighting styles that could work for them.”

Huh. Interesting.

War is incredibly eccentric and does whatever he pleases. Which is another reason besides his constant wars that a lot of people strongly dislike him ever visiting their planets.

Although the main reason people dislike him visiting is that they’re paranoid that he’ll declare war on them for some tiny reason with no warning. But his eccentric nature is also part of it, since they don’t know what he’ll do on their planet.

At the same time, there are a lot of people who actively search for him because of his nature. He is the oldest warrior alive, and is also known as the most talented teacher in the universe when it comes to combat.

All because he’s been alive for ages, learning new fighting styles from all over the universe throughout that time and merging bits and pieces of them all into his own fighting style.

A fighting style he doesn’t really need to use much considering his overwhelming power when compared to most others.

Still. His knowledge and techniques are a large part of why so many powerful warriors work under his flag in his wars.

They’re all hoping to be taught by War.

And if War’s offering to teach them, I don’t have any problems with it.

“Go ahead,” I answer him with a nod. “So long as they want your training, of course.”

War just grins at that as if it’s already set in stone that he’ll be training them. Which I’m not very surprised about, considering how most fighters in the universe would kill for a chance to have War privately tutor them.

Whether Ruby and Ryan will or not is uncertain, but even I feel like they might say yes.

Especially for the chance to get a fighting style specially made by War for their werewolf forms.

War and I continue to watch the duels in the arena, with Ryan and Ruby gradually making their way up the ladders. But most of the other fighters aren’t all that interesting.

There are a few junior branch fighters that definitely have skill, and a lot more that I can easily call at least talented.

Unfortunately, I’m used to interacting with princes, princesses, kings, queens, emperors, and empresses. And they’re always at the peak of power.

So my standards are a little high.

Eventually the junior branch begins to come down to the last couple hundred battles. At which point the few skilled people I saw end up finally being matched against each other.

And now it’s finally starting to get interesting. Or at least, a bit more interesting.

Not quite interesting yet still.

After all, what was really interesting was watching the Grands fight. And having that wine from the ramen place.

I narrow my eyes at the thought of the wine.

Just how am I going to get them to give me the recipe…

I cross my arms and tap my finger while trying to think of a way.

Maybe I can just straight up buy the store? That might work. Assuming they’re willing to sell it to me.

If I flood them with enough money then I should be able to get the recipe.

I have no other use for my money after all.

If that doesn’t work, then I’m stuck trying to figure it out myself. Since it’s just rude to steal things.

It would tarnish the recipe if I tried to steal it.

So it’s best to just spend a few years or so trying to figure it out on my own.

And if all else fails, then I can just offer them one favor in exchange for it.

Anyway, I temporarily put the wine out of my mind as I refocus on the arena again. Right when Ruby enters again for her next duel.

As for her opponent? She’s fighting some sort of prince.

My eyes narrow slightly when I see the way the prince is looking at her.

Why am I getting a bad feeling about this?

Thanks for the chapter… Why do I have the feeling that this prince tried to woo ruby or something in that direction is going on?
