Ashley
Once I reach the top of my Spire, I waste no time walking over to the little pillar marking the true Spire and placing my hand on it. Making a message appear in my vision. Just like the last time I took on a trial.
Would you like to attempt the Trial to reach Class C? Yes/No
I quickly select yes.
And with just a flash of crimson light, I find myself appearing in the preparation area for the Class C trial. One with nine other participants already in it.
Participants who look absolutely terrified by the sight of me.
Which is understandable by now.
I probably won’t get any enemies who can give me a run for my money until at least reaching Class C or Class B. Since the strength of the average user drastically rises with every Class.
“Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s Class C trial! I’m your host, Vlxlicvnas, here today to give you wonderful news about the great and powerful Princess of Chaos!” I soon hear the host of this trial exclaiming, making me raise my head to find a chimera flying in the middle of the arena, with the audience all around said arena going wild. “I bet her competitors are glad that trials aren’t permanent deaths, don’t you?”
Huh. I didn’t realize people from the Tower of Chaos were also hosts here.
That kind of makes things a little embarrassing though, considering everything he’s saying.
I’m also not going to try and parse that name.
Anyway, the host begins going on about the trial itself, but I mostly just focus on the description he brings up. Since it’s easier to understand than his babbling.
The Class C Arena
Description: All trial takers will be placed into a grand arena split up into ten segments. And within those segments, waves of monsters will be sent at each trial taker. All the way until the clock strikes zero.
Participant Count: 10/10
Rules: Killing monsters will give one point each for regular monsters, two points for elite monsters, three points for mini boss monsters, and five points for boss monsters. Additionally, killing another user will give fifty points, and the user killed will revive twenty minutes later with their waves unfrozen during this revival time. If the user is slain by a monster, they will revive ten minutes later. The trial will end after three hours.
Victory Condition: The five trial takers to claim the most points by the time the clock strikes zero shall pass the trial.
Rewards: Every user slain in the trial grants the winner 100 Skill Points. First place receives an additional 1000 Skill Points. Second Place receives an additional 750 Skill Points. Third Place receives an additional 500 Skill Points. Every monster slain grants the hunter 1 Skill Point for regular monsters, 3 skill points for elite monsters, 5 Skill Points for mini bosses, and 25 Skill Points for bosses.
Participants List
Hmm. Alright.
This seems like a very simple trial.
There’s no way to permanently die in the trial, since we’re always resurrected. As is normal for trials.
And the trial has some nice rewards too.
But more importantly, this trial lets me go attack all the other users and kill them for their Skill Trees with no risk whatsoever. Both to me and them, since they’ll revive afterwards.
It’s a win-win scenario.
For me, at least.
They just don’t die.
As for the other participants? I see two Successors amongst them.
There’s a Successor of Magic, and a Successor of Order.
Surprisingly no Successors of Sin.
Doesn’t really matter, though. Not when I’m planning on hunting down every user here at least once for their Skill Trees.
And everyone seems to understand that perfectly well considering the way they’re looking at me.
Some of them look like they’re resigned to die at least once in this trial.
I put my hands in my jacket pockets as a certain little tiger cub sticks his head out of my jacket’s hoodie. Only for him to notice where we are and jump down to the ground. Making said ground begin to frost over a little in the process.
Looks like Leo’s raring to go.
I chuckle at that before waiting for the host to start the event. Which only takes around half an hour of him blabbering on, mostly about how great he thinks I am.
Then we’re all finally teleported into our respective segments of the grand arena. Which pretty much looks like a large pit at the center of the bleachers, with ten more smaller pits scattered within it. Each with four different gates on different sides of the small arenas.
Gates that waste no time in rising to reveal portals on the other sides that monsters immediately flood out of.
Little Leo and I do practically the exact same thing at the same time as we send a strong blizzard rushing through our segment of the arena. Freezing everything solid, including the monsters that rush out of the gates.
Except that I activate Assimilate before doing it, of course.
And thanks to eternal snow, the monsters begin to disintegrate a bit until they’re down to just some skinless flesh and bones before the ice becomes too thick to even see the monsters through it.
Turning this little segment of the arena into a frozen wasteland in moments.
But I just find myself yawning in boredom. Because that’s all this really is.
It’s boring.
I silently watch the different messages about new Skill Trees appearing one after another with my hands in my jacket pockets.

Hmm. I got earth mana manipulation, I guess.
Nothing to really write home about for the rest of the skills, but that can help in the future.
I yawn again before beginning to fly out of my arena segment.
Because I want to see what skills the other users have.
