Within the Fallen Planet

The Demon King shows genuine surprise as he floats high above the planet, just staring at the strange orbs of energy slowly floating towards him. Energy that he very easily recognizes from his past run-ins with its previous owner.

Famine energy.

He knows very well about how the Horsemen are born. How each of them are born directly from the universe and their separate energy flooding it. All to act as a sinkhole for that very energy to keep the universe from becoming an apocalypse.

And yet, now, he finds the energy acting out of the ordinary.

Is this because I’m the only Demon King who has been alive after a Horseman’s death?

That thought gives him pause before he slowly reaches out to touch one of the orbs made of famine energy. And the moment his finger makes contact with the energy, he feels it dig its way into his body. Making the Demon King scream in agony when it does.

But the pain doesn’t last long. And soon he finds his body altered ever so slightly.

If it ended there, however, it wouldn’t be that big of an issue.

Instead all of the other orbs begin to grow more and more drawn to him, entering his body one by one and causing even more pain to flood his entire being.

And the more that enter him, the more seem to want to enter him.

Slowly altering his body and granting him some limited control over famine energy itself.

Nowhere near the extent that a true Horseman of Famine would have, but enough to call himself a semi-Horseman. That is, if this continues happening for hundreds if not thousands of years.

Because this small amount of energy won’t amount to much at all.

When the Demon King tries to absorb the energy of the other three Horsemen, it doesn’t do anything at all. And the energy itself tries to avoid him.

As it telling him clearly that the energy already has an owner and will never betray them.

Does this mean… I can usurp a limited form of a Horseman’s energy when they die?

The Demon King feels a faint grin spreading across his face at this realization before he goes even deeper into hiding while continuing to absorb the motes of famine energy. And his main body isn’t the only one as he has his clones do the same.

Absorbing as many motes of famine energy as possible to fully take control of whatever he can.

Even if it’s just a limited form of control over the energy.

Meanwhile he begins to make plans regarding the other Horsemen of the Apocalypse aside from the immortal one.

The two Horsemen who are theoretically capable of dying unlike her.

Soon after beginning to make his plans, laughter begins to echo throughout the Fallen Planet.

Laughter that would send a chill down the spines of any who heard.

Within the Throne Room of the Eternal Dynasty

Shirou Amatsuraki slowly taps his finger on his throne with his eyes closed for several minutes as he senses the energy in the universe changing. And in ways that he doesn’t particularly care for despite first appearances.

Because the previously growing famine energy in the universe is starting to slow down in its growth.

Not very quickly, but it’s still happening.

And the growth of the energy in the universe is still faster than the slow-down. Making the energy continue growing in density.

But the mere fact that something has caused it to slow down is worrisome.

So when he pulls out his coin and flips it, he finds himself narrowing his eyes in suspicion when the coin lands in his hand face-up.

Amatsuraki stares at the coin for several seconds before gripping the coin tightly in his hand. Then he raises his hand to reveal the coin now in the form of an orb. One he lifts into the air, with the orb floating above his hand even when he stops raising it.

“Find the target of the apocalypse,” Amatsuraki whispers into his throne room, his words forming glowing letters as they leave his mouth to enter the orb. Following which said orb begins to glow before showing the image of a single man.

The man has long dark hair with a deep green tint, with glowing green eyes, and pale skin. He is wearing a lab coat with a green tie and is moving around a laboratory dealing with various different chemicals.

And yet, only a single second after the image appears, the man pauses and turns to look directly at the source of the feed. Meeting Amatsuraki’s eyes directly.

“The target of the apocalypse has been found,” Amatsuraki clearly states, his words going through the orb to reach Pestilence’s ears.

But the Horseman of the Apocalypse simply nods his head and waves his hand, dismissing the connection in an instant.

Amatsuraki stares at his orb for a few seconds as it lowers itself back down to his hand to take on the form of a coin once more. Then he closes his eyes again.

Things are getting more interesting now.
