Definetly what Mike needed to say. To show Paulo that he just wants his friends, he wants people he can trust without risking hurting their feelings by accident just cause he doesn't have a romantic love for them. Paulo has other issues he has to deal with. Pining over Mike and not getting it back is not another problem he needs. A gentle way to set a boundary but clearly say he wants/needs Paulo still.
